Can Penn St. be kicked out of the B1G?

I think the Freeh report maybe mentioned NCAA compliance maybe 1 or two times in mentioning that he believed they were understaffed. The majority of compliance related talk in the report was about Clery Act compliance and having a centralized office that dealt with compliance with univeristy policies, law and regulations because different departments in the university would often have their own compliance person so it was decentralized with no communication between different compliance staff across the university.

The Freeh report did not discuss violations of NCAA rules or lack of enforcement of NCAA rules.

They did say that in terms of the Clery Act there was basically no compliance for almost twenty years, i.e. non-functioning compliance department in terms of the Clery Act.

This is priceless stuff right here folks!
So if they had a non-functioning compliance dept in terms of the Clery Act(a FEDERAL LAW), but were all good as for ncaa compliance?

Keep it up, this is great stuff.
I've bookmarked this page for all eternity

Dude...the NCAA itself has already said it has jurisdiction. It's already involved.

If the NCAA says it has jurisdiction, it has jurisdiction. End of story. Why are you felching this rotting chicken corpse?

What he is saying is, "Don't be surprised if the NCAA doesn't take as aggressive an action as we all may want".

The NCAA has their own lawyers, just like PSU, the B1G and its members. It's anybody's guess how it "might" get hashed out.

But...I fell a he&& of a lot better knowing it might only take 7 or 8 schools to get them punted from the B1G.

yes, because there are so many benefits to having a team under all kinds of ncaa sanctions in your conference. where would they go at this point? the big east?

I agree it's not ideal and I'm as disgusted as went on there as anybody, but kicking them out of the conference would all be a big sham. I would wager most of the people backing the idea are at least in some small part motivated by the appeal of Iowa moving up 1 in the Big Ten pecking order.

In principle could I see the value of kicking them out? Sure. But in practice, all that's going to happen is they will be without a conference for a couple years and then - guaranteed - some power conference will gleefully bring them into the fold, complete with uplifting press conference saying how proud they are PSU learned their lesson. Meanwhile, the Big Ten is left trying to figure out who is going to end up filling the huge ratings void they just created for themselves.

have you been asleep for the last 12 months? psu aint worth **** right now.

LOL. Of course they are, they might actually be worth more as I would bet ratings on PSU games are up this year and of course going forward they will remain as valuable as ever.

He is trolling you duff, yesterday he was on here saying PSU should get an institution death penalty.

I was saying it makes as much sense to close the entire university as it does to give the football program the death penalty. But like I've said all along none of this will happen and all you people will be shocked at how quickly this blows over.

having trouble keeping your user names straight brah?

Listen folks. Penn St. did break NCAA guidelines and they deserve what they get. I have taken the following directly from the NCAA Rulebook.

2.1 The Principle of Institutional Control and Responsibility
[*]

-------
2.1.2 Scope of Responsibility
[*]
The institution's responsibilityfor the conduct of its intercollegiate athletics program includes responsibility for the actions of its staff members and for the actions of any other individual or organization engaged in activities promoting the athletics interests of the institution.

There it is. The "umbrella" clause. Slam em.

Why is it so difficult to understand that the ncaa isn't going to investigate the rape. But they are going to investigate the system that was non compliant that allowed it to a)happen & b)continue Basic stuff folks. Law enforcement will deal with lawsNcaa will deal with the system that was out of compliance.
They weren't out of compliance with NCAA rules.

PSU has never had a serious NCAA violation in Jopa's tenure BECAUSE their compliance. apparatus. did not func tion or was designed to not detect violations. There compliance appartus was so bad that for at least 14 years PSU athletic assets and branding were used to lure at risk children to be raped at athletic facilities with the full knowledge of employees at multiple levels of the organization including the top 4officials in the athletics chain of command.

Must be!

I need to get me one of those alternate names.

Now that thar is funny stuff. It certainly helps clear a few things about some of his posts under 33. Of course, sending no disrespect towards you 23/33, everyone is entitled to an opinion. Some of yours, while certainly not mainstream, actually are outside the box, and at least provoke thought.

Funny thing is had a story break that Joe Paterno had covered up for some booster to give one of his players a tattoo I would not have cared or had thought any less of him, anything but covering up for a pedophile for 14 years. But keep in mind Penn State was the king of the east, they are situated in a hotbed of talent so there was never any need to get a competitive advantage. When your main competition for talent in PA & NJ is Pitt and Rutgers you do not need to break any rules. Even with all that has happened Penn State still has the #15 ranked recruiting class for 2013. It was easy for the President of PSU to take a hard stance over an agent giving Enis some money to buy some clothes. Draw attention to something like that, show that you are an almighty when it comes to compliance while you cover up for a pedophile running around your campus.

I cannot help but wonder if Joe Paterno would go that far to protect his football program what else was he capable of doing?
