With this scenario? Not saying it will happen just putting it up for debate.

Regular Season

Purdue - Win 18-10 (7-8)
Indiana - Loss 18-11 (7-9)
Illinois - Win 19-11 (8-9)
Nebraska - Win 20-11 (9-9)

Big 10 Tournament

1st Round
#10 Neb/NW - Win 21-11 (9-9)

2nd Round
#2 MSU/Mich/Wis - Win 22-11 (9-9)

Semi-Finals
#3 MSU/Mich/Wis - Win 23-11 (9-9)

Finals
#1 Indiana - Loss 23-12 (9-9)

In my opinion, theres two ways the hawks make the tourney.....

1. Beat indiana and make the finals of the BTT
2. Win the BTT to get the auto bid

Thats it.

NO. NO. NO. AND AGAIN NO.

Stop the madness. Now.

Now you are just being ridiculous. Look at the facts buddy. If we lose to Indiana and win the rest, we will still most likely finish 6th in the Big Ten. It is DEFINITELY a possibility that you can't just rule out so easily.

4-0 to finish the regular season, plus make the semi-finals.
or
3-1 to finish the regular season (loss to Indiana),plus reach the finals.

We would need to win out, plus beat at least one ranked team in the conf tournament that we lost to earlier (Ohio State / MSU). Not sure how the RPI would look after all that, but we should be in the discussion. Facing a NW/Nebby/PSU/Purdue in the tournament in any round and winning (I.E. if one of those teams gets lucky and we meet them in a later round) wouldn't mean anything, we would need to beat a ranked team along the way.

Maybe if we destroy the teams in our 6 wins and lose nail bitters to Indiana the committee will have mercy on us. Probably not tho. It's still more fun to debate this then to give up all hope.

Chill out dude just proposing a scenario. 23-12 (9-9) would definitely put us on the bubble. Not sure if it would be enough to get us in though.

Why do you set yourself up for further disappointment by posting stuff like this? It's not going to happen. The bubble burst. The carriage turned back into a pumpkin. Iowa pieced together the wrong series of prices on The Price is Right. How else can one say it? Short of winning the BTT, Iowa is not going dancing this year ...

If they win every remaining game except Indiana, and fall in the Big Ten Tournament championship game, yes. Are they likely to do that, no.

But saying 'no' is silly. Iowa would be 23-12 with 12 wins coming during conference play.

I don't think it is going to happen, therefore I won't be disappointed. Could it happen, yes. I wouldn't bet on it though. I rather look for positives than the negatives. Until Iowa loses in the BTT I'm still going to root for the unlikely to happen. I'm not ready to give up and say this year is over.

I have been optimistic about this team the entire season and I definitely think Fran has the program headed in the right direction. I'm just being realistic about expectations for the rest of the year and the prospects of making the NCAA tournament.

The way this team struggles to score, especially in the half court, I don't like Iowa's chances in the next three games. Yes, it would not shock me to lose to Purdue and Illinois at home. The only game I feel Iowa should be favored is Nebby in Iowa City.

Doubt it. There may be a chance, considering we're currently the first team out according to BPI, 35th in Pomeroy, 42nd in Sagarin, 53rd in Massey. Also, our RPI would get a nice boost from playing UM, MSU, and IU twice. But that scenario is such a longshot that I won't get my hopes up. I figure it's better to think the Hawhanded down and out and then be pleasantly surprised, than to expect them to get in and be crushed on selection day.

When I first read this, my reaction was the same as Law .. .. "no No NO NO NO NO!!! How many times do we have to say it?!?!?!?"

After thinking about it, I realize .. it is possible. Probable? No, so I'm not holding my breath. In fact, I'd give it less than a 5% chance of happening. But I'm getting myself mentally ready for the NIT.

GO HAWKS!!!

Yes, we'd be in.

Put it out of your mind, though. We're not beating Illinois, Nebraska (twice, probably), Michigan State and Michigan/Wisconsin in eleven days. Just not happening.

Go Hawks, though.

Iowa needs to win out, including winning in Bloomington, then reach the BTT semis. That 6 games win streak would put them in.

If Iowa wins the rest except Indiana and gets to the BTT finals, they'd be on the Bubble. Not sure which side, prob in.

Right now the only chance to get back on the Bubble is to beat Purdue and then somehow win at Indiana. If they do that, they are at minimum in the conversation - but still would have a lot of work to do. If they lose to Indiana, they aren't anywhere near the Bubble and would likely need to win the BTT or at minimum reach the finals with a good showing to be looking at getting in.

But as it sits now, Iowa is a mid-NIT seed right now.

Too many missed chances and end of game meltdowns for Iowa this season unfortunately.
