Can Iowa Make the NCAA's w/o Beating Indy or Winning BTT?

No. I started to have hope, only to have it crushed by nebrasketball after being up by 19. We are not dancing. Hope for next year. Continue to hope for this year and your hope will only be crushed.

Hope in one hand and poop in the other and let's see which one fills up quicker, right? :)

I don't think it is going to happen, therefore I won't be disappointed. Could it happen, yes. I wouldn't bet on it though. I rather look for positives than the negatives. Until Iowa loses in the BTT I'm still going to root for the unlikely to happen. I'm not ready to give up and say this year is over.

Of course the year isn't over, there's still 5, maybe 6, games left, plus (hopefully) 2 or 3 games in the NIT. That's about 1/4 of a season to go!:D

Kudos to you for looking for positives but, unless you have some direct impact on the outcome, optimism without reality wastes a lot of energy and hoping for the sake of hope is usually an exercise in futility. Not to mention, it gets kinda annoying.

Like you, I'm just gonna keep watching and cheering but, in the end, we're both gonna be watching a team that is not consistently good enough - YET - but is also not as bad as they have been.

Another year and a reliable outside shooter. GO HAWKS!

Without a doubt Iowa would be firmly in the mix if this scenario plays out. Those saying no aren't really looking at the big picture. Iowa would hold wins against Iowa State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan and Michigan State. Those are some pretty solid wins and would counter the 3 semi bad losses we have.

I'm not saying this would put us in, too many unknowns. What if a Georgia wins the SEC tourney again? Or a non Creighton/Wichita State winner in the MVC? Or elsewhere? Just don't know how that will shake out, but Iowa would absolutely be in the mix.

In my opinion, theres two ways the hawks make the tourney.....

1. Beat indiana and make the finals of the BTT
2. Win the BTT to get the auto bid

Thats it.

This, provided we beat Illinois, Purdue and Nebraska. Do that and make finals of BTT and we have legitimate tourney invite. But...THREE losses to Indiana in a season could end up hurting us, as well.

IF we were to finish 4-0 and make BTT finals, then we are in.

With the win over Iowa, Nebraska is now inside the RPI Top 100, so that is not a bad loss.
With the loss to KU last night, ISU is now outside the RPI Top 50, so that is not a quality win.

(These will certainly change come tournament time)
