Agreed. I'm very happy with what he has given the Hawkeyes over the past 4 yrs of his career. He's got a lot of heart and intangibles that don't always show up in a box score. Very glad he was a Hawkeye.

All I'll say is that Jarryd's improvement from last year to this year has been phenomenal. He's added some touch and developed a nice jumper. He's shooting FT's much better it seems, and getting himself in better position in the low post to make plays on both ends of the court. It's very evident what Fran has done for his confidence as well. With that being said, I see him being very successful in life somewhere outside of playing professional basketball.

I don't see that happening at all. Yes, he seems like a good kid ... but I just don't think basketball at the next level is in the cards. I think he would even have a hard time playing overseas ...

Jeez..nobody's saying that he's gonna be an allstar in the NBA, but lot's of players worse then him can play overseas.
If he want's to continue to play overseas he most certainly can. That shouldn't even be an argument. Even if you for some reason hate him...if you're a rational thinking person you can't deny that he could play somewhere if he chooses.
He could play overseas in a heartbeat. NBA=never.

I certainly hope not, he deserves better than that. He's my second-favorite Hawkeye of all time (behind only Chris Street). He stuck it out when seemingly everyone else was bailing. He's put in 4 years without any kind of tangible reward. It's not like he played on 3 lousy teams and then made a run to the Final Four. He's stuck it out for sub-15 win seasons. And he's provided the desperately needed leadership to help lay the foundation for the program's future success.
He deserves to be remembered for a long time by all Hawk fans.

There have been about 7 people who have watched Iowa basketball for Cole's career so he probably won't be remembered.
He won't be playing high level pro basketball although he may play somewhere, I'm not too knowledgeable about international basketball.
I do know he's a tough player and it's hard to say how good he could have been if he didn't have the crap around him he has.

Cole's an English major, not necessarily the ticket to a job in business. Any chance Fran takes him in as a grad assistant with a goal of eventually getting him on staff?

I may be mistaken, but I think Gorney played a year or two in the d-league. I know Looby has been playing in the d-league, and Doug Thomas definately still plays in the d-league.
Although I highly doubt Cole could play in the d-league primarily due to his size, I think he could certainly play overseas somewhere if he chose to do that. However I see him more likely teaching somewhere and being a coach.

At no point did Seth Gorney ever play in the NBDL. Scouts aren't that impressed with a senior year that consists of 4.3 ppg.

I don't know if we can really call playing in Europe "The next level". Most leagues are pretty bad, with the exception of a few (ULEB Lists the top leagues as the Spanish ACB, the Italian Liga, and the Greek league). Of course, much like Euro football, there are dominant teams in lousy leagues, who play in the Euroleague, which is kind of the basketball equivilent of the Champions league.
So I guess if you landed on a Euroleague team, then you could make that argument that it is "next level", but otherwise it is just getting paid to play NCAA level competition, or sub NCAA if you go to Asia.

Europe isn't the NBA, but some guys make a pretty good chunk of change. Not all, but a lot of guys pulling down multiple 6-figure incomes. A good player with some smarts could end with well over half a mil in his bank account before age 30. Not bad.
