Bruce Pearl is available

The sad part of this is that Pearl will spend the next year playing golf, then work his way on to some sports channel for a few cameo appearances, then get a call from New Mexico State, Houston, UTEP, etc., and be back on the bench breaking more rules.

I hope the lunatic fringe of Iowa fans that clamored to throw 3M at this clown to come here to coach have taken their meds. IMO, you can lump Forbes into this also, as you can't tell me he was oblivious to what was taking place in that rogue program.

Somewhere in Chicago, Jimmy Collins is smiling.
Well, maybe for a day or two. Then Collins will remember that Pearl probably made more money at UT than Collins made in his entire career. On top of that, Pearl will be doing color commentary a year from now. Collins could possibly claim some kind of moral superiority, but that will ring hollow when he sees that Pearl will remain in the spotlight to some degree.

I would take him tomorrow. IDK wtf you are talking about, the guy can recruit and coach. He is an upgraded Fran McCaffery and that is no slight on either. Do you think lollipops and pretty colored rainbows are going to get recruits to sign? Come on. I would venture to say that somewhere between 90 and 100% of the programs have 'cheated' to some degree over the past 5 years.

Agree on the Iowa fans that wanted that clown here. As for him coaching again it will be interesting to see what happens, I think he will be on our TV sets next year and for as long as he wants. Not a huge fan of the guy but he would be very good in that role.

Let's not be hypocrites here. It's been well documented that Bruce did some shady business in Iowa City, then attempted to assassinate another colleagues career because he lost a race.

I could care less how much money Bruce made; Jimmy Collins had to fight for his reputation because of false accusations Pearl made. As a man, I don't respect that regardless of my collegiate affiliation.

I'd be interested in your definition of "shady business" and "false accusations". Sounds like a very Illini-like interpetation.

Do you have a link to back your claim up about cheating? This guy is nothing but trouble, and this is coming from someone who wanted him last year. No thanks anymore.

I wouldn't. I'd hope that Iowa wouldn't touch him with a 10-foot pole as much as he's cheated.

And my oh my aren't we a bit cynical? I'm sure programs look at ways to bend rules but 90-100% cheat?

lollipops and rainbows might not bring recruits to sign but working your butt off like Fran appears to be doing just might.

I would take Pearl and Forbes at Iowa in a heartbeat.

That's of course because I'm a fan of winning basketball games.

Let's not get carried away with him "cheating." He lied about a recruit (who was verbally committed to play at Tennessee at the time) being at a barbeque at his house. That is why he was fired. This would've been a slap on the wrist but he made a bonhead move and lied. But let's not make it look like he was paying players and taking SAT's for them.

Sorry for the link. I'm on my phone and can't post a hyperlink from the app. Loren Tate covers Illinois sports for the News-Gazette in Champaign.

The SOB failed to notify Tennessee of another recruiting violation that occurred four days after his tearful press conference.

Hell, ninety-eight percent of the lawyers have more ethics than he does. Pearl makes lawyers look respectable.

This was the "bump" that occurred and most feel this will go away when they go in front of the infractions committee. This happens all the time, Nick Saban is the master of it. They didn't report it because it shouldn't have been a violation and probably won't be.
