Bruce Pearl is available

I don't know how recruiting a felon is a violation but whatever Hawkforce. As ridiculous as it sounds, there is nothing illegal, immoral or unethical about it. I want to win as much as you, but let's do it the right way.

I am not saying it's a violation, but many people are high on their horses about "winning with class" having felons on the team is not winning with class....but at this point. I really don't care who we have on the team the key is winning.

I can get picky after Iowa is respectable at basketball.

I was referencing your cheating comment. If Fran cheats to win then I don't want him. If he offers a "rehabilitated" felon however, I will support 100%.

You referred to cheating....that is not acceptable at Iowa.
Recruiting a player who has paid his debt to society, well, that is not against any NCAA rules,so it is not cheating.

I want to win,but if we have to cheat to do it, forget it. Just not worth it.
Like in Pearl's case, he did not get any of those recruits at his BBQ anyway. And in fact, I suspect that they steered clear because of his violations,or due to his call to them asking that they clam up....not a good sales approach to recruits,I suspect.

I like Fran

If Fran doesn't workout, or if he leaves for Notre Dame in the future, Pearl is my FIRST phone call

Apparently the one and only recruit at this infamous barbecue is... Ohio State's (& former Tennessee verbal) Aaron Craft.

FWIW.

Bruce Pearl is a frequent guest on a sports talk show here in Atlanta. The show hosts have said repeatedly that they really like the guy and were very sad to see Pearl's downfall. However, these same hosts have dropped a few hints over the last couple of days that what has been reported so far is the proverbial "tip of the iceberg".

I would take Pearl and Forbes in a minute...as someone else said...I just want to win. I am so sick of losing and I really don't care how they get it done at Iowa...let's be real people...EVERY program cheats...even the beloved Hawkeyes. You have to if you want to have a chance.
I'm sure this was the mindset of Indiana fans when Sampson was hired, or Georgia fans when Harrick was hired, and so on...

Does it really count as winning if those seasons are vacated a few years down the line? Count me out.

Bruce’s problem is that he lied. The “bump” violation and the BBQ at his house isn’t that big of a deal. IMO it’s no bigger deal than the “Ashton and Demi” recruiting violation at Iowa this year. The problem is that he lied.

That was not a good or smart thing to do. However, if that makes him a “scumbag”, then probably 95% of all college coaches qualify.

He lied, he asked an assistant coach to lie, and he called some of the parents who attended the BBQ and asked them to lie too.

My guess (and that is all it is at this point) is that the UT AD knows that if someone starts to dig, there's a lot more to be found.

I thought Josh Selby(former Tenn. commit, now at KU) also attended the BBQ?

Both were highly rated recruits, and in the end, they go to OSU and KU,and are both in the sweet 16....and Pearl is fired...oh what a tangled web we weave, when we first seek to decieve.

Yes you are correct. My mistake.
