I think they have backed themselves into a corner. Either Brian will succeed his dad as HC or they will both go down in flames.

Throw in another 4-8, 7-5 and 5-7 and Kirk will feel enough pressure to "retire" He won't ever be fired but will happen in the same fashion as GD retired.

You're assuming Kirk Ferentz is accountable to someone. He is not.
The boosters make that decision, not the university, and I can guarantee you they are 100% behind KF no matter what happens.

DItto on this and if anyone is going to get latitude it's Brian. If Dad doesn't like the play calling BF can always walk up to him and say "Fire me then." You think Kirk will fire his son with a wife and grandkids? I hope Brian turns out to be so awesome he gets a HC job in 3 years and Kirk says enough and he and Mary want to live with Brian and the grand babies.
He is accountable, it's just a much longer leash than any other football coach walking the planet which is a problem although the seat had gotten fairly warm before the 2015 year of 12-2.
