Most SEC teams only play 9 P5 teams and some only play 8, while Iowa consistently plays 10. They also play ISU, WISCI, NORTHWESTERN, WISCI and NEBRASKA on the road this season and PSU at home. Their schedule is as hard as any team in the country will face. This guy is here to troll and troll only. As long as we all know it we can plan accordingly.
It's all good. Honestly I don't mind if they bag on Brian as I agree with most that he hasn't paid his dues and don't think he's "earned the right" to talk down to the press. But I love the fact we're 3 weeks into the season and someone wants to throw out the fact that we haven't left the state. Feel free to bash who we're scheduling, but lets not play the "never leave the state until mid. October card"... Here's an interesting stat based off conference schedules during that time frame until "Iowa leaves the state" on 10/5.
-5 teams (OSU, Michigan, PSU, MSU and RUT) don't see an away game or neutral field in OOC play this year.
-7 conference teams actually left their own state in OOC play: Maryland (@Temple), WIS (@USF), ILL (@UCONN), NEB (@COL), NW (@Stanford), PUR (@NEV), MIN (@Fresno St.)
-2 Teams: Indiana and Iowa have 2 OOC Home games and an instate game (Indiana vs. Ball St. neutral site)
But let's call our coaches out for not leaving the state...I guess the 5 teams that can't even schedule an away game get a free pass, because we seem to be the only team in the country, let alone our own conference that doesn't leave their own state.
We should probably give the 5 programs that can't even schedule away or OOC games credit though, because they "made the decision" to go out of state to play conference games before we left the state. Funny thing is by Oct. 5th when we finally leave the state to travel to Michigan, we'd of played just as many away games as OSU, MSU, and Rutgers, but one less road game then Michigan or PSU.
Facts are fun!!!
