Brandon Wegher - Sick numbers at Morningside

Check these stats out. This is insane. I just thought this was interesting considering I thought he graduated a while ago. Nope, still playing football at Morningside.

On saturday he rushed for 258 yards with 5 touchdowns. The game before that he rushed for 327 yards with 4 touchdowns!! Wow.

He has rushed for 1493 yards and 26 touchdowns in 165 attempts for an average of 9.0 yards per carry. Wegher is the leading rusher in the nation with an average of 186.6 yards per game and is also the NAIA national leader with an average of 215.5 all-purpose yards per game and in scoring with 170 points for an average of 21.3 points per game. His 1493 yards rushing is the second highest single-season total in Morningside history and is 131 yards shy of the Mustangs’ record of 1624 yards rushing in a season by Jake Peterson in 2009.

I could honestly see him being drafted next year after putting up these numbers even though he is at Morningside. It's just too bad he couldn't have stayed at Iowa.

I had that same thought, but honestly I think these numbers are insane even at that level. Too bad he had some off the field issues at Iowa. I just can't see how a guy does that well as a starting running back at Iowa where we won the freaking Orange Bowl and then can't keep it together off the field. I would have given anything to have what he had. I just think it's such a shame.

He just seemed like a guy who was "all iowa". You wouldn't think you would have to worry about him not sticking with the program.

Assuming he would have never gotten hurt, he would have run out of eligibility agter 2012 had he stayed here.

His chances aren't great, he will most likely go undrafted unless he can somehow get an invite to the combine and post good numbers. It's not impossible for him to make it to the league though. Fred Jackson from Coe College says hello.

He won't be drafted but might have a chance to get signed.

NAIA to NFL is a huge leap, but Wegher bomb has the talent to jump it. Who knows, maybe he can be the next Cromartie.

We could've used him and Coker in 2012. Oh boy could we have used them.

Didn't have the self control to keep it in his pants. Sorry if that sounds harsh; just calling it as it is.

But, yeah, we needed him. Coker, too.

It is so weird that Whegher and Coker are still playing this year.

Next thing someone is going to tell me that A-Rob and Hampton are still playing somewhere, which has got to be impossible, right? There is some rule that you have to use your eligibilty in 6 years or its gone, right?

Hampton made it to the NFL. He had talent but two knee injuries at Iowa. Dont know if he was mad at Iowa for not getting more carries but give him credit after the transfer for rehabbing and doing well.

Not sure if he is still a pro, I think he was with the 49ers to start this year.

49ers released Hampton prior to the start of this season. Always wonder what if. I guess I could say that about a lot of the guys who left. Like others have said wegher will get a tryout but no way he gets drafted. He will probably do ok in the physical drills but I have to hope he has his head right for the interviews. On the other hand look at some of the knuckleheads who've played in the NFL.

Hampton was on the 49ers from 2012-2014, he's now a free agent.

He showed that he can compete at D1 level as a TRUE frosh. He may get an invitation to combine.
