Brandon Snyder OWI

Umm I think the issue is impaired judgement.

False. No matter how drunk I was, I always knew to drive the extra two miles or whatever it was to avoid University Heights. I used to live right by there, bud. Everyone knew to avoid UH at all costs. Hell, even when sober I would set the cruise control to 23.

Dumb statement. Really dumb.

I, for one, am glad we have the Iowa City Police out there taking these criminals off the streets. Rumor has it they also arrested bystanders for chewing gum while watching them arrest Snyder.

I can confirm that Iowa City police do have a very redneck side to them. But I think we can all agree that my sweet, loving, tender, gentile, giving, diplomatic personality could never rub a cop the wrong way.

I routinely drank and drove my car..drank while driving..drove after drinking all the time. Pulled over 1X had me blow into a device, told me they didn't think it was working right and sent me home. No wrecks

ps.

I don't drink anymore. I'm glad I didn't hurt anyone.

Man I can't believe you guys are joking about driving drunk. Seriously?

Will our guy be consistent with the punishment doled out? Or maybe he isn't allowed any input?

I'll second that PS. I did not routinely drink and drive, but did it a few times. Knowing I was not in the best shape made me extra careful. There are times I have been very drowsy while driving that I have actually been more dangerous.

One thing I know for a fact is me shitfaced = 100 times safer driver than my pharmaceutical junkie mother in law.

I'd say driving drunk period is stupid. Always has been always will be. The fact that the ramifications for getting caught doing it have only gotten tougher over the years only makes it dumber to do it. I did in in high school a few times but not in college. Didn't have any traumatic event happen relating to it or anything just smarted up I guess. With all the 'kids' out there doing it all the time it really is a miracle there aren't more tragedies relating to it...

Clearly, to be called in by someone else, he wasn't driving safely. People like that need taken off the road no matter what your feeling is toward law enforcement. That could be any of us, or our family, getting injured or killed by him...

I can see how this is the fault of the police. Totally makes sense.
Likely not in this instance but the ICPD are pretty gestapo. I've been pulled over and blown SIX separate times in a 10 year period. Always blew under and have never had an OWI. They pull you over for no reason (one of the times was for having my music too loud and I didn't even have the radio on) and pressure you into giving a breathalyzer. At that age I didn't and most don't know their rights.

Bad decision by Brandon and I hope that he can learn from his mistake.

I've lived in Iowa City for 20 years and have been pulled over once, for a speeding ticket, that I deserved.

You've been lucky then, I had one speeding ticket when I was 18 - no other traffic violations but have been pulled over at least 20 separate times. Born and raised in IC.
