Brady Ernst

That thread stretches back over a year when I actually posted there for a little bit. They made fun of Hutton (Wisconsin offer) Fleming (Florida, Memphis offers) and Jok all the time. They wanted to mock Moss, but since their deity (Hoiberg) offered him as well, they only mocked him some. I'm sure they mocked the Dale Jones signing as well.

I wonder what the douchnozzell ForeverIowan thinks of these sh1tty azz recruits Prohm is bringing in. I'd bet he is praising them like they are gonna be awesome......which guarantees they will suck, cause that d0uchbag is always wrong.

If his screen name is the same on CyFan as it is on here then it's apparent he is pretty pumped about this Louisiana Tech guy:

Common sense here tells me this kid is going to be pretty dang good if the AD felt the need to restrict 55 schools including Florida. LTech coach took the Florida job this past season. LTech AD knew he was going to go after this kid. If he is good enough for Florida I welcome him with excitement if he were to pick us. I know Florida has had a tough year or two but they are still a top tier program.

Mercy...go take a look at him on youtube. Can't find much other than some hammer dunks but it looks like the kid has some unreal athleticism.

I laughed out loud at the common sense part. ForeverIowan and common sense. HA! Every single thing that guy posted over here ended up being incorrect.

Haha! Yep it's definitely the same ForeverIowan and he's clearly still visiting HN. He must have read this thread and here's his butthurt response:

Caught wind that hawkeyenation.com is in a frenzy over our desire for this kid. Freshman 3 star recruit that averaged nearly 7 points a game that'll have a year to sit and develop and mature physically. Guy had some sportscenter top 10 dunks. Meanwhile their 3 star prized recruit from last year Dom Uhl averaged a whopping 2 ppg on 18% from three and a eye opening 52% from the charity stripe. Guy is set to be the leader of their squad in 2016-2017 and likely their 6th man this year. Not to mention looked like he was going to crap his drawers anytime he touched the floor. They're in solid shape over there though.

Enjoy this coming season while you can pal. Because now that the Mayor is gone the success won't be sticking around Forever. No pun intended.

HAHA...that's pure freaking gold that d0uche still comes over here.

Hey Foreverd0uche good thing you left, you gots lots and lots of debts to pay. I mean spouting off like you did that ISU would go as far or further in the NCAA and Iowa wouldn't. That the Big12 would get more teams in the tourney (and they didn't) and more teams would go further each step of the way ( and they didn't).

Just imagine if they choke in the first round to the next Hampton or UAB they face in the first round. I can already see the BWW March Madness commercial in a few years. They are on pace to be below the level of Iowa's Lickliter experience. It will be fun to watch.

Frans four star recruits: Gessell and Woodbury (both huge busts)

Freds four star recruits: Niang.Morris.Thomas.Custer.White.Booker.Luscious.Allen.McKay.Burton.BDJ

Mercy!! Like I said can't win if you can't recruit. Keep on working hard Fran you got this don't give up.

As focused as Freddy is on the transfer market he has still landed four 4 star HS kids compared to Frans 2. Now that should be alarming!

Lets look at what Fran has done recruiting over the last year:
Hutton (Wisconsin offer)
Fleming (Florida and Memphis offers)
Moss (ISU offer)
Wagner (Minnesota offer)

Connor (4* recruit)
Weiscamp (5* recruit)
Patrick (4* possibly 5* recruit)

Prohm has brought in:
Brady Ernst (0 offers 0*)
Next big target a La Tech transfer who had 0 P5 offers out of HS
For Murray St. 2015 class he brought in:
Bryce Jones (0* 0 offers)
AJ Patty (0* Bradley, Indian St. Morehead St. and W. Kentucky offers)
Cletrell Pope (0* UAB offer)

LOLOL, that type of recruiting is gonna bury ISU in short order. Which was the bigger loss? Losing to a #14 seed, or watching Mr. Cyclone go marching out the door to take any NBA job that he could find?

I won't judge him on recruiting until he puts together the 2016 class. That class will be huge and the foundation for the future. He's getting what he can and there isn't much left for 2015 unfortunately.

Oh, I don't disagree. I'm talking about the decisions he is making now. He is now committed to a 4/5 years for Ernst, who is a "pracitce" body. Now he is trying for another "practice body" in the form of the LA Tech kid. They just brought in Nick Babb (another BIG reach) and now are trying for a Nick Babb clone who is a reach as well.

That doesn't scream good decision making to me.

Also Bryce, you on board with what I was trying to tell you months ago? Freddie boy totally sh!t the bed with his recruiting the last two years. Coming off 2 straight 3 seeds in the NCAA tournament, and he doesn't even leave the incoming coach with a team that has enough bodies to get through a practice 5 v 5. He should have been loading up with top 125 kids (he could have gotten these kids like the Morris, Niang, Long, and Thomas) of the world. Instead he just goes after 5* blue chip kids and transfers.....and gets nobody.

He also got Pemsl who is number 139 i think on rivals top 150.

Makes me wonder if Prohm is just making a statement to donors by recruiting an Iowa kid right away. It has to irk donors to see all the Iowa kids play for the Hawkeyes and none for the Cyclones.

Prohm is following ISU legend Fred Hoiberg. Unless he goes to the sweet sixteen consistently he is going to fail. Cyfans will not ever believe that Fred set them up for failure. After the 2015-2016 season the roster will be as bare as when McDermott left town. Cyfans like to think they're one of the blue bloods of college basketball but they didn't figure out that being a blue blood means you keep doing the things that brought them success like recruiting. Fred either stopped recruiting because he wanted to cement his legacy after he left or he just didn't like or understand the recruiting game. Whatever happens cyfans will remember Fred as the coach who took them to the final four every year and Prohm as the guy who took the program down.

They just lost that Stapleton guy to Miss. State. If Prohm doesn't land some BIG fish who can contribute immediately in the offseason next year than the program that the Mayor built is in a whole lotta trouble. I'm gonna enjoy ever second of the downhill slide. Couldn't happen to a more arrogant fan base. #bluebloods

Haha, they are losing transfers to freaking Miss St. now.....hahaha

It's actually pretty funny to see how many Cyclone fans are expecting Iowa to suffer a major drop off this year too. While I definitely don't think they are going to be world beaters I'm taking a wait and see approach. I refuse to write them off. Fran has improved the team each and every year he's been in Iowa City. I think Iowa has the pieces in place to surprise some people.

Uthoff will need to be the man. He needs to play with confidence. If he can be the leader that people are expecting him to be then I do believe there are number of guys who can step up and be solid role players.

Gesell, Clemmons, and Woodbury are known commodities. We know they aren't going to shock anyone with what they bring to the table, but we also know they are experienced and they know what it takes to win at this level.

Jok, Fleming, Jones, and Ellingson will have an opportunity to provide the Hawks with a much needed boost to their long range shooting. I'm guessing Jok and Fleming will get the most playing time. There's not enough minutes to share between all of them. That may be part of the reason why it sounds like Jok is going to be playing a lot of minutes at the 3 position. I think Fleming's experience at Oak Hill has paid dividends. He's used to practicing and playing against elite level talent. It sounds like he's been the most impressive young player at the PTL.

In my opinion, the success of their season comes down to two things:

1. Can Uthoff prove that he's capable of being "the man"? Can he own that role?
2. Can Woodbury stay out of foul trouble and be a consistent presence down low?

If those two things happen I think the Hawks will surprise some people because I have faith that the role players will be more dependable this year than in years past.

*I just realized I didn't even include Moss in the discussion... No idea where he's going to fit into all of this.

Well one thing Prohm has going for him is that his next recruit has to be better than Ernst by default.

I think Ernst is going to be a good player for them in a couple of years. Its to bad he had the knee injury, but he seems pretty athletic, ect. I was hoping they would of gotten the Stapleton guy; because, they already have some guys like him on the team, and he didn't seem like a future game changer. Stapleton shot a lousy percentage from three point range. Who knows how good Ernst will be after he is fully recovered and has had a couple of years with the weights.

I also think there is something to be said for guys that have played together for a few years. Some of these mid-major teams surprise people come tournament time because they are led by a core of mature players that understand each other very well. I think that's something else positive for the Hawks this year. With that said, we will miss White and Gabe. Hopefully the new kids can have an impact.

White was a stat sheet stuffer. He did a little bit of everything and there's just no way any one player can replace what he did. His scrappy play, rebounding, and ability to get to the foul line will absolutely be missed. He was such solid free throw shooter too. I don't think anyone should try to replace what he did though. His numbers will need to be replaced by several guys.

As far as Olaseni goes... I think he'll be missed in terms of depth. That much is obvious. He provided a solid defensive presence when Woodbury got himself into foul trouble (which unfortunately was quite often). After the beginning of the season last year I had high hopes for Olaseni on offense, but then he fizzled out pretty quickly. He just didn't seem comfortable at all on the offensive end so I don't think his production will be missed much there. Whether or not he's missed really comes down to Woodbury's ability to stay out of foul trouble and remain healthy. If he can do those things then Gabe won't be missed. If he can't then his absence will definitely be noticeable.

I think he's the worst P5 recruit this year, a guy who was a borderline mid-major player even before he blew out his knee. But at least Prohm has Clinton County on lock down now so they have that going for them.

Last years we had to replace Marble (17 PPG) and Basabe (7.1 PPG) & McCabe (6.1 PPG).

This year we replace White (16.4 PPG) Olaseni (8.1 PPG) and Ogs (3.2 PPG).

I don't see why we can't be anywhere from a #5 - #8 seed in the NCAA with the team we have returning. We have 5 very experienced players, and I will be pretty disappointed if this team isn't a shoe in for the NCAA going into the last week of the season.

It is almost unbelievable that this was Prohm's first recruit. I mean that is crazy, crazy bad. He didn't even recruit him when he was at Murray St......LOLOL
