You can say that all you want but there was a path for that to happen, at least the Quick Lane. Had Wisconsin gotten blown out in the BTC they could have gotten knocked out of the NY6 bowl picture and that moves everyone down a slot. Especially since the Red Box locked down Illinois early and supposedly Iowa is not eligible for the Gator.

I live a little over an hour from Detroit, so if it's the Quick Lane Bowl I'm gonna go all out! Hit the tanning booth a few days before and buy a ticket from a scalper right before the game for $20....

Barta/B1G would have worked something out behind the scenes. A 9-3(6-3) Iowa team wouldn’t have played in the Quick lane or Pinestripe.

Iowa vs. Alabama in the Citrus would be more desirable. It’s a win-win for Iowa. If they lost nobody would blink an eye, but if we were to win, well that would be program changing signature win. Especially since Alabama spent much of the last ten years as the #1 team in the country.
On the other hand, if we were to beat USC in the Holiday Bowl, still nobody wouldn’t blink an eye considering the dumpster fire that program is in. Lose to them and I believe that could actually have a negative effect. The Holiday is a nice destination, I went to Navy boot camp there, but looking at the alternative, I’d rather have a shot at Alabama. I can’t remember if we have ever played them if at all.

It's a 3-hour show. I assume ALL the other bowls will be announced in about the last 5-20 minutes. This pap is worse than the NCAA March Madness selection show. DO THAT INTERVIEW, INTERVIEW, INTERVIEW STUFF AFTER THE OTHER BOWLS ARE RELEASED! Let's get on with it.

NOT talking about the Detroit bowl. PLEASE! That was in reference that we may still be headed to the Citrus Bowl. And no - prognosticators are not nearly unanimous in sending Iowa to the Holiday. I still expect Holiday but I also know the Citrus has wanted Iowa for years.

Yeah and the Cotton Bowl is blah with Memphis against PSU. There will be non NY6 bowls more exciting. They need to change it.
