Blind Resume

Obviously we all know which team Iowa is. But try to be objective about this. How do you order these teams based on their resumes?

A
22-8 (10-5)
43 RPI, 73 KenPom
3-3 vs. Top 50
13-3 vs. 101+

B
20-10 (10-7)
75 RPI, 15 KenPom
4-2 vs. Top 50
13-7 vs. 101+

C
19-11 (8-9)
77 RPI, 31 KenPom
3-8 vs. Top 50
14-3 vs. 101+

D
21-7 (11-4)
42 RPI, 45 KenPom
2-2 vs. Top 50
16-1 vs. 101+

A is solid
B is okay. the 7 losses against 101+ . . . drops 'em.
D? Not much there. Pedestrian.

A, C, B, D I guess.

That being said, the RPI is getting a little worn out to me when you look at some of the nitty-gritty. Belmont #22 in the RPI? Seriously? Belmont would finish last in the B1G. Well, maybe not this year. But any other year.

Isn't crazy the difference playing 165 vs 265 rated teams does to that RPI.

Blind Resume's are a good tool. But nothing tells you about teams better than that eye test.

Iowa is way, way better than their RPI.

Yes and No. I know what you mean, we do play better basketball than the RPI might suggest.

But the RPI would be higher had we closed out some of those games we lost at the end. And if you can't win em, then...by definition...you're not as good.

If we don't make the tourney, there should be no beaching about whether RPI is a good measure, about who did get in that we could beat, etc. We had our chances and didn't win the games. Period.

D looks clearly best, as far as rankings and record against 100+. A and C are pretty similar, A probably gets a slim advantage. B is no factor.

edit: pretty sure there isn't a team that is 75 RPI and 15 Pomeroy.

Even the B1G Network this AM said "Iowa is on the bubble to be on the bubble". Gotta win next three to move from 2nd bubble to the first bubble.

If Iowa is a bubble of bubbles, how do you explain teams like AZ State and Baylor just on the regular bubble? Their profiles are worse than Iowa's.

I hate these blind resumes. The correct answer is: Whichever of your "blind resumes" represents Iowa. That's who should win.

Because Iowa has no respect. They've been missing from NCAA for nearly a decade. These other bubble teams have made multiple appearances since Iowa's last appearance. It's a disrespect factor in some effect. Iowa has to battle their poor image on top of winning games. Makes it more difficult for them.

Perhaps Iowa should consider playing a tougher non-conference schedule. If we had played some better teams we would be in already.

Iowa is on the Bubble because of there SOS. We wouldn't even be discussing things like this if Iowa played a better Non-Conference schedule. 3-8 against the Top 50 doesn't look to appealing to me and it should clearly have been better, because we are fans and know that. Committee see a number 3-8.

Could Illinois beat Gonzaga now? or Butler? Probably not.. But they played them early on in the season and beat them. Iowa needs to improve there schedule

Team A- Temple
Team B- Is it Virginia?
Team C- Iowa
Team D- LaSalle

No SOS data? Committee uses it why can't we?
