Blackout Uniform Teaser

If you mess with the contast it looks like they will be all black with gold numbering in a different font than the normal jerseys. A Tiger Hawk logo on the left and IOWA written across the middle, but nothing on the shoulder pads.

Come on....who else but little Iowa announces ONE uniform change? As if they need to warn fans that something really drastic is about to happen....and to really build up this ONE event, lets push it to the end of the season. Another example of amateur hour at Iowa....why not just show up on the field in new Uni's without announcing it...that would be cool. Try acting like you are actually on top of things for a change.

Based upon your complaints, it sounds like wherever they had done around this you would have figured out a way to find fault with it. There are legitimate things to complain about without inventing them.

There's a lot of schools who build up hype for new uniforms or changes. Just this year Tennessee has made some changes with the new unis since they have switched to Nike, plus they had a 8 month build up for the new smokey gray unis year before last. But it makes all worth while when they come running out with them on. Go Hawks!

It may just be me, but I AM excited about the Uni's. I remember when they did the throwbacks a few years ago. I thought those were cool, but I don't remember being too excited. Right now --in combination with everything else that is scheduled for game day-- there is a little excitement for the season.

Maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion, but given the wrestling meet, and the possibility that either team could be in contention for the west. There is the chance, if the rumors are true about an extra College Game Day, Herby and the gang could show up in IC.

Of course, it could be like all the naysayers predict and the Uni's could look like something ISU would wear and the Maroon pom-poms-- used to celebrate the veterans-- would be used to cheer on a 5 win team.

There's no need to invent (and he's not), the weakness of our marketing and PR has been on full display for a few years now. Denial won't make it go away.

But I understand that some are happy with mediocrity, while others prefer striving for excellence. We all have different standards.

The Neb-tards announce their special uniforms every year, and they clearly show them. I think this is a good middle-ground way of doing it, and builds some anticipation. You can't just "show up" without promoting them somehow. That would defeat the purpose of selling tickets. I just hope the Hawks are still in the hunt when this happens.

Look guys, the only reason I am not excited is because it will be ONE event....and nothing more. Then it will be back to the white knee high socks, 4 inch high helmet numerals, logo in need of balanced sizing, and ANF sticker that 20 years later still gets explained to a national audience....some of which are inner city preps.

The whole alt uni thing is cool. Winning more games will make it mean a little more. If we struggle this year, any uniform change up is meh.

I'm nervous. And anxious.

^ Okay, I get mad when Iowa loses, but college kids playing a game should not make you nervous.

I freely admit that college kids losing a game should not make one mad, either.

Maybe nervous is the wrong description , but I'll be very interested/excited prior to this game and how the Hawks look.

Getting mad after a loss is normal, if it didn't bother you at least some, there would be something wrong. On the same token, should college kids playing a game not make you happy when they win? When it's the team you cheer for, of course.

I wonder if there was a single hawkeye fan out there who wasn't nervous on 4th and goal at MSU in '09?
