Biggest benefit to the recruiting class might be practice

Well, I can tell you with certainty if Barta fires Lick after this season things still can get worse. The hope would be that a new coach could keep all the current players and keep the current recruits. But, some of you think that the current players and recruits are not big 10 worthy anyway? We could and probably would see mass defections in both the current players and recruits. I am not against Barta letting Lick go after this season, nor would I be surprised. I just don't see it getting any better with a new coach next year, but I do with Lickliter. And, I can't possibly see how any of you will be any happier next year with or without Lickliter.

I guarantee you a new coach will generate enthusiasm. You don't think even a kid like Gatens would welcome a system change??? Come on...if you follow D1 basketball most kids stay at the school that recruited them. Where are our incoming recruits going to go...there list consisted of MVC schools or mid-majors. To argue that kids will leave and things will get worse is your opinion just like our argument that things will improve is our opinion. I would hold more optimism if Lick showed a willingness to do something. To do the same thing over and over again with the same result is insanity.

This is Creans second year,not third. He came in a year after Lick,Tubby and Beilein. His first class,after he was hired in April, was signed within a month of arriving...included two top 150 kids in Verdell Jones and Nick Williams...Williams played last year and then left. Jones has become their top scorer. Also signed Dumes,and Pritchard and a bunch of walkons.

Second class was top ten with Creek,Hull,Watford,Elston,Munizo,and Rivers.
Next year he has 2 top 130 guards,and he is looking for another big man.
For 2011,he has a commit from a top 75 player.

His FIRST recruiting class was the group of 7 players that included Dumes, Jones, Roth, Story, Williams, Jobe and Pritchard. This was his FIRST class. This was a bunch of mid-major late signing players that he was able to bring in to try and put a bandaid on the program. In his SECOND recruiting class he brought in a few 4 star players that are now leading the team. Next year, as I stated, he is bringing in players that fill a gap on his team (SG). It wouldn't surprise me to see him pull a scholly or two following next year or some players transfer as they aren't going to get any PT.

Seriously, what is it with you Lick lovers? You obviously don't follow ball that much and you try to take anything and blow it out of proportion. I never stated Crean was there 3 years but he is on his 3rd recruiting class. Lick has been at Iowa 3 years and he is on his 4th recruiting class remember?

1st class he didn't do squat. Cole, Kelly and Peterson were his first signings but those were all Alfords recruits.
2nd class he landed Bawinkel, Brommer, Davis, Fuller, Gatens and Tucker
3rd class he brought in Archie, Cougill, May and Payne

Paragraphs 3-5 are pretty much all crap.

In short Cully is a true PG. Eric May is very athletic. Cole is closer to 6-8 than 6-6. I would consider Archie and Brommer both as "ture big men", Cougill also seems very well suited to be a big man in Licks offense. To my knowledge lick hasn't banked any schollies since he's been here and at the very least he hans't shown a pattern of letting them go unfilled, so the argument that Lick is failing at "bringin in a whole team" doesn't really hold water.

Cole is listed as 6-7, that means he's likely closer to 6-6 as most programs generally inflate players physical stats.

Lick has banked scholarships as pointed out previously.

Brommer may grow into a "big man" role. But he is not there yet.

And many posters have commented that our players are playing out of thier true positions. I know Gatens in particular has been mentioned in previous discussions.

In my opinion there is no way Cully plays at PG in any other system or Big 10 team. He would be a shooting guard that could fill-in for the PG from time to time.

Maybe some of the post you attempted to call out is opinion, but there is more in that post that is fact than you'd like to admit. And the part you consider crap isn't necessarily crap, just an opinion you disagree with.

We were having a fairly decent discussion in my opinion between those who support Lick and those who don't. But them some have to come in here and blow it all to **** with insults and accusations.
