Big Ten Tournament Seeding

Just being in the opposite side of MSU has me excited, that is all I wanted.

That being said, let's hope that SOME YEAR we can have some success in this tournament, because as it sits, Steve Alford is the only guy that had any luck with Iowa in the BTT.

He did do that very well.

Why would you rather play Maryland than Purdue?

I've been explaining why since Friday ...

What I haven't seen is anyone explaining why they want to play Purdue. Please don't say, because Hawks beat them twice. That was 2 months ago, when Purdue's guard play was very suspect and Iowa could out run them. Purdue's guards have improved. Iowa has slowed down and struggles to keep their foot on the gas, let alone, maintain productivity at a fast pace. Iowa's front court is even weaker the way Uhl has been playing. Purdue is simply the better, more complete team now. They will beat Iowa by 6 to 8 points.

I still don't get how Purdue gets the 4 over Iowa when Iowa beat them both times. Does it have something to do with Iowa going 0-2 against Indiana?

There was a 4 way tie so they decide by round Robin record. We had the same record as Purdue so the next tie breaker is record against number 1 team. The bracket generator said they defeated us based on record against Ohio State. I assume that means we had the same record against indiana and the record against the other teams in the round Robin doesn't count.

Jeez, that sucks since they only had to play MSU once.

Ah well...it is what it is.

Thanks!

Iowa is in a great position to win this tournament.

I like the bracket setup, but Iowa still has to win 4 games in 4 days to pull that off.

I know the Hawks did it in 2001, but this is very difficult to do.

Obviously am hoping for more, but I'll be happy if they can at least make it to the semis. Winning a couple games should help the team's mojo, and maybe improve their NCAA seed. I just want to see Iowa playing well going into next week..

It does suck, but on the flip side, I think Iowa needs to play games to get themselves right again. Illinois should help in that regard

I agree with that and I mentioned it in my original post. OTOH if the goal is to actually win the tournament as opposed to just looking good in it, playing 4 games in 4 days is a tall task.

I'm sure we all have this programmed in our tiny little brains, but here ya go.....

Here is the full Big Ten bracket:

I do think the extra game provides a chance to build momentum. However, I am curious as to thoughts on what team has the best chance to beat Michigan State? I think MD has a better chance than Purdue, if MD plays its "A" game. I dont want to see a rematch with MSU. I would like to get past Purdue for another shot at Indiana, however.

Agreed.

Plus if we play MSU, that would be in the title game - our 4th game in 4 days. That thought doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. Really would loved to have had that double bye...

But I'd have a hard time wiping the smile off my face after beating Indiana. Plus it would make the possibility of playing in Des Moines more promising. How's that for warm fuzzies??? ;)

I remember that game Iowa beating Ohio State, if my memory served me right, then we had #3 seeding in NCAA and play Northwestern State. Let 's hope this year we'll make a deep run in tournament.
