BIG 4 Classic @ Wells Fargo - Who's going?

This Saturday starting at 5 pm in Des Moines, ISU vs. UNI and IA vs. Drake at 7:30 pm. Who's going to the early game and if those early crowd leaves, can the later crowd move into those open seats? I think the tickets are good for both shows since they are priced higher than normal. Any thoughts, comments?

Too expensive for Mid major match ups. They need to split the sessions and charge 1/2 the price. They should sell more tickets, more concessions and have a better environment.

I think the event is a bad idea. How many ISU fans want to pay to watch Iowa and vice-versa? The prices are too high and it's not a great venue for hoops. I think it has a short life span.

Paying $70 bucks to watch ISU-UNI on a neutral court is one of the last things I want to do. Only slightly above watching Iowa-Drake. I go to ISU games for the college atmosphere which will barely be present at WF.

Agree, prices too steep. Need to charge at least half the price if not cut it more. There aren't very many good seats at the Well. Upper Deck sucks for basketball.

A benefit from my perspective of Iowa fans buying 2/3-3/4 of all the tickets is that it will kill the event at the end of the 4 year contract. I don't think isu will be too keen on the event being consistently outnumbered. Buy 'em up hawks.

I will be in attendance. I agree that the ticket prices are too steep, but I graduated from UNI so I'll have an interest in the UNI/ISU game as well and really be pulling for the Panthers, especially since it's against ISU. Plus, Fran asked me to scout ISU a little bit for him. :)

I guess I'm confused by this... how does the Well have so much worse seats than any other arena?

Is there any TV for this game? Flipped through my sports channels last night looking at Saturday and couldn't find anything.

This event sucks. The court is ugly, there appears to be no atmosphere as well. I preferred the days of home and home games with all the in state teams

It's a good idea, but too expensive. $70 a kid, plus a ball and chain....right. Boys night out possibly.

I'd much rather go to the Knapp Center.

So we can keep getting totally screwed with absolutely horrid officiating when we play at the McCleod center? No thanks...

And why is the court "ugly"? Lol. Also, I don't understand why the Well is such a horrible place for a basketball game? Can somebody please explain? Of course I'd rather experience the game at Carver, or is just a bad experience simply because the game isn't at Carver?

Officiating doesn't concern me. Iowa has better depth/talent than when they lost at UNI. Based on your concern Iowa shouldn't play a road game in the big 10 I guess, better petition for all neutral site big 10 games. If Uni and drake are good teams getting a road win only helps iowa that much more.

The well just feels blah in my opinion. Just my opinion.

One step ahead of you, I already have.

I know we wouldn't have as much trouble with UNI now as we used to since they've slipped a little bit, but chancing us having an off night, along with brutal officiating? No thanks. That would be an ugly loss on our resume, and there's not much to gain by playing at their house.

The court does have red on it, which is like my least favorite color. Also an ISU color, so I can kind of see your point there. Of course you're entitled to your opinion about the Well, but I'm just wondering why some people think it's such a horrible venue, because I tend to like it. Yes, the atmosphere is lacking during the Big 4 Classic, but it's a nice, newer venue. I'm just puzzled as to why it's such a crap hole in some people's opinions.

5 in my group going. A Hawk fan first, but I enjoy watching all four schools. I thought the event was a good thing, but the prices are too high. I buy 5 tickets and the price comes out to $401 with surcharges. I went last year too, but this might be it.

Half the seats are ticketed to fans who care much more about the other game. You "own" half of a side and the corner for your fans. Bulk of upper deck seating is on one end behind the basket. Seating in the upper deck mixes fanbases. Poor lighting. Terrible videoboard. Even worse operation of the scoreboard. No energy coming from nearly empty student sections.

I will be there, Lao, with my brother Jerry and two Sams. Don't know where the seats are yet. Jerry is buying the tickets. I will let you know when I find out. Remember when you went to the Drake game years ago and were highfiving the Drake fans.....

Looking forward to both games, and you can move down when the fans leave after the first game. Jerry and I did last year about 10 rows off the floor. The attendants kept looking at us, but didn't have the nerve to tell us to move. We just stared at them like we owned Wells Fargo.....

Jack's mind likes to wander with ellipses .... lol. That's okay, I'll be there with my brother too. Seating is sect 105 Q row, hope to move on down to those empty spaces. Go Hawks!

I'm going. My ticket is in the nose bleed area, but it was $25. Each University got an allotment of tickets according to the ticket agent at Wells Fargo. How many each school sold is anybody's guess. I was told there was not many tickets left on Wednesday morning.

I know some are not in favor of this event format, but it works for me.
