Big 12 setting up exploratory committee. You will laugh at the targets

I was listening to 610 Sports Radio Kansas City this morning and they were talking in length about the Big 12 conference losing aTm and possibly Missouri, etc....Anyway they started saying that the Big 12 (lead by Texas' AD) is putting together an exploratory committee to start going out and poaching teams from other conferences/independents using Texas' power to ultimately strengthen the Big 12 and stop the exits out.

#1 on in their crosshairs is Notre Dame and they firmly believe they can get them. What is funny though is its based on the option of ND having the same type of set up that Texas has giving ND the option for their own TV network. (Yeah because that is working sooo well for your conference already)

#2 on list is TCU (yeah I can see this one)

#3 on their list is Minnesota!
LOL...yeah I laughed hard when I heard that and called in to the station at that point. I gave them my take on Minnesota and no way in hell they are leaving the B1G for the Big 12. He came back at me saying he wasn't implying Minnesota was leaving to come to the Big 12 he was just saying they are going to be approached by the Big 12 exploratory committee. I told him he and the Big 12 are off their rocker and it would be a waste of the Big 12's time to approach Minnesota and if ND is joining any conference it would be the B1G.

It is quite funny listening to these fools down here. They have no clue how well the B1G operates and how strong it is as a conference.

This is my take on it. Now with all of that said. Do any of you guys/gals see Minnesota giving the Big 12 even 1 ear to hear them out?

Minnnesota is about as likely to join the Big 12 as the Dallas Cowboys.

I actually could see ND joining if the Big 12 becomes a start your own network league. That would be something that the Big 12 offers ND that the B1G doesn't.

Thanks to University of Texas' greed the Big 12 conference is a dead man walking, the conference is desperate and grasping

Notre Dame to the Big 12 is 100X more likely than Notre Dame to the Big 10. If you don't believe that than you are not very well informed.

why would any team want to join the b12 at this point?

Within a year, they may have 3 major schools leave their conference. Makes a ton of sense to hop on that train.

I am pretty sure the Big 12 has just decided to form a committee. I don't think they have listed a group of names, other than UT has about 20 names they thought might make sense.

Chris Williams summed it up well today in his blog. Expansion brings out the worst in journalism. There are so many unsourced stories out there that I am pretty sure that wishful fans and journalists looking to get a few more views are throwing anything they can out there.

100% serious. And it's a fact too. Think about it.

I've seen nothing that states that Notre Dame is considering the Big 12, not saying it's not out there but I have not seen it my self.

I also live in South Bend and Notre Dame fans don't seem to be taking these rumors too seriously so take that for what it's worth.

I never said that Notre Dame was going to the Big 12. Never said it. I'm just saying the chances of them joining the Big 12 are much greater than the Big 10. For one, they don't like the Big 10 and their commish. Second, the Big 12 would allow them to keep their contract with NBC. It's pretty simple and something that has been known about for years now.

You guys think a couple of schmucks on the radio really know whats going on and whom the big xii is targeting? They are throwing **** at the wall right now.

no, but you said it was 100x (i think) more plausible. I assume that big 12 members have to vote to allow - do you think that big 12 members want another Texas? no way, unless you folks are truly imbeciles, which is probably true.

texas is biding time any way to go independent. so they could give a rip who joins, or if no one joins. they are independent in 3 years, depending on how fast they can get their network up to speed.

what should have happened is y'all (since the b12 is a texas conference) should have picked up TCU instead of picking your noses prior to it going to the Big East.

but honestly, who wants to go into the big 12 WITH texas in it AND who would want to join now with the prospects of them leaving in short order?

Why would a school that has held out in joining a conference to this point join a conference where some teams are overtly begging to leave and others are covertly doing it? It would be a bad move on their part to join a conference that has a shorter life expectancy than a mayfly.

The money being made in the B10, SEC and PAC10 is being watched closely by the major players in the B12 as well as ND. I doubt ND bites. They are making money and not sharing. And the B12 is in an uncertain state.
