Big 10 West standings and thoughts

I think the Wisky loss has energized the Hawks. They knew they should of won that game. Now they are playing at high level with some attitude. I feel sorry for every team that has to play Iowa from here on out, including Penn St.! This feels like a team on a mission! They want to destroy every opponent for all 60 mins. This team will not be satisfied until they get to Indy. And I think they can do it!
 
The Rose Bowl folks would take Michigan over Iowa, especially after how we played there recently. I've always wanted to see Iowa in the Fiesta Bowl. I really believe we can win out, but fear that Kirk will screw it up somehow.

I agree. In order to win out, which should be the goal, we need to destroy teams, not just be a little better. Don’t play to the level of the competition because if we’re just a little better we’re likely to lose a close game somewhere.
 
What really sucks is that there is obviously a Good Hornibrook and a Bad Hornibrook. Unfortunately we played against Good Hornibrook and Michigan, Nebraska, and BYU played against Bad Hornibrook. I know Michigan was getting pressure but he was going down before people even hit him. He was so bad on accuracy, that I just couldn't understand it.

I think we took the wrong tactic with him...we should have blitzed him early...to get him rattled...it's clear, once he's rattled...he stays that way. He got comfortable against us.

You have to want the teams ahead of or tied with the hawks in the West to lose.

If we lose to Northwestern we don’t deserve a better bowl.
 
We need to win out. If we win out AND Wisconsin wins out, so be it. But we need to win out. 11-1 gets, at worst, Citrus Bowl, because if we win out and Wisky wins out, it means PSU is at 3 losses minimum, so put them in the "Welcome to Tampa!" file.

MSU will lose to Michigan and O$U, so send their asses to San Diego or Nashville. A Michigan loss to O$U leaves them with 2 losses and Rose Bowl, with Wiscy going to NY6 if they make the B1G CG and lose. OR...we could end up getting a NY6.

But in ANY scenario where we win out, Citrus Bowl is the worst we will do, and we're pretty much out of the Rose Bowl for at least a few years barring making the CFP. And the CFP is not happening this year as long as there are $EC teams with less than 2 losses.

Oddly enough, Forde or some ESPN hack said we are one of 3 B1G teams still in contention for CFP. Obviously, on paper only. But...winning out at least means we don't really "care" which bowl we get, because we know it will be a pretty damn good one.

If we win out I think we’re in the CFP. It would mean we beat tOSU likely and PSU at home.

We could win out and not play in Indy if Wiscy wins out. Both would have 1 conference loss, they own head-to-head tiebreaker. End of story.

Sadly, 11-1, in and of itself, doesn't get us in. 12-1 does, though! :p

True but I just don’t think Wiscy is winning out. They’ll lose at least one game. Theyre going to be 8 point underdogs at PSU and I also think there’s a decent chance NW or Purdue pull an upset. The hard part is us winning out.

Absolutely. But winning out at least means we've done our part (excepting the Wiscy game)

This team is different. I’m worried about Purdue, Maryland(though not really but they Jeckle and Hyde so who knows which one shows) and Penn State. Honestly Purdue scares me the most of teams left

If we win out and WI loses we will beat OSU and make the playoffs. I think we do win out and I think WI loses so anyone in Vegas want to take a PayPal wire and get me a line in that?

^This. Playing with an edge right now. Very balanced, WR's finally hanging on to the ball and young Ferentz is calling some plays. Use the tight ends correctly and get IKM back and this is a pretty tough offense to game plan for. Defense is plug and play. I dont think PSU is unbeatable at all. Focus on Maryland, take care of business, keep foot on the gas, GO HAWKS

I'm not sold that tOSU will win out. They've not been dominant defensively, and haven't been the scoring machine that they normally are in B1G games. I think they may lose to Meatchiken.

Here's a scenario-

MSU wins out.
Michigan beats OSU.

Iowa wins out.
Wisconsin loses to PSU.

Iowa vs MSU in Indy, again.

Well...there is no possible way MSU gets to the championship. I've watched a few of their games...they can't run the ball...at all. My feeling is that Lewjerski gets beaten into the ground this week...I just think Michigan is going to destroy their offensive line.

If I have to hear Mark Dantonio give his cheesey, "we are great speeches, we are spartans, we come together, we did this we did that"...crap. I have very rarely heard him give credit to the other team. It's always about him or his team. He's the biggest douche in the B10...and that is saying something...when you consider Urban Meyer, Jim Harbaugh, Scott Frost, and PJ Fleck. You really have to be a douche of another level to rise above those guys.
