If you took all of these QBs and put them with the exact same personnel and everything else equal (regardless of who the personnel are), Beathard gets my vote as the best QB in the Ferentz era. He definitely the toughest and in my opinion the most pure quarterback. He's also the only one to ever get a snap in the NFL which, while not a huge deciding factor, should say something about his play.

I just don’t know how you put CJ ahead of a Heisman Runner up, did CJ even eclipse 20 touchdowns in a season once?

Banks by far.

Interesting that you only listed the gunslinger or dual threat guys. And those guys had to fight to just get on the field.

I agree getting some snaps in NFL does mean something, but I am not sure how much value we should put on that, and agree it's probably not a deciding factor.

Otherwise, that would mean we should be rating Rudock higher too, since he got some snaps in the NFL. Of course CJ ultimately beat out Rudock for the starting job at Iowa, so there is no way you could rank Rudock higher than CJ. But just saying, Rudock got some NFL snaps while Tate, Stanzi and Banks never did.

who else would I put there that accomplaished what the 4 above did? The four above combined for solid Bowl wins, national Awards, undefeated regular season, and more. Who else would go here? Ruddock, Vandenburg, chandler, Christensen? I didn’t include them because the 4 above are better.

Ricky stanzi not getting 1 snap in the NFL and a guy like Nathan Peterman gets multiple starts makes about as much sense and logic as people voting for Hilary Clinton. Makes no sense. I’m still salty. USA #1.

Yeah, that was my point. That the 4 best QBs in the KF era are gun slingers or dual threat. But what does KF like? pocket passers that are not very mobile. Doesnt make any sense.

Stanzi, while probably not at the top of this list, does have some nice unique niches that he carved out for himself.

Record as a bowl starter 3-0
Record against Wisconsin 2-1
Record against Michigan State 2-0

So...let's cut to the bottom line of this thread. Can football get here soon enough?

The NBA is ok...but the season is way to long and dominated by divas.

I like the NHL but an ice-based sport shouldn't be in the playoffs when people are weeding their gardens in Calgary.

Baseball is the "National Pastime"...and that name is no accident. I love Field of Dreams and all it represents. But 162 games...please. How bout 140 and they all matter. Ok...matter more. The World Series should never bump up against Halloween.

Gimme opening day at Kinnick.

Actually 2-1 vs MSU. Stanzi lost 16-13 in 2008 when Greene was stopped on 4th and short late in the game.

Stanzi's 3-0 bowl record does seem remarkable but guess who is quietly 2-0 as a bowl game starting QB with a chance to go 3-0 next January? That's right, Mr. Nate Stanley!

That’s why I said all things equal such as personnel. In my opinion the two biggest things that held CJ back were Greg Davis’ system, and getting rocked in the backfield. The protection he got was pretty horrid.
He also didn't have very good pocket awareness though.

Banks is number one for me because of his ability to extend the play an you could devise so many runs around him from the draw to the option it adds so much more dimension to the offense. I also think that because of his ability to run and his hand work with the ball he was one of the best in play action.

I would like to pick Tate for number 2 but his emotions got the best of him in a lot of games so I am going with a healthy CJ

Whoa whoa whoa!!!! Let’s not get crazy here...

I hate soccer, but being the traditionalist that I am, I don’t want that dork sport to change any of it’s rules or customs for me...I just choose to ignore it if I want. Live and let live, brotha! :)

I thought Christianson was QB for that MSU game. Was that Stanzi's first start?

It was definitely around that time that the torch was passed. I thought Jake at least started that game but you could be correct.
