Best Case Scenario Starting 5 Next Year

Dickerson
Oges
Jok
Uthoff
Gabe or Woody

Yes I said it. White shouldn't start. Neither should Gesell until he can hit a shot.

He CAN score! He had two bad games. Name me a better Assist to TO ratio than Gessell? Stupid post

I'd do a little more research before I called someone's post stupid... though I don't do that anyway.

Mike G was 5-28 from 3 pt range (17%) over his last 8 games...he also shot 37% from the floor 31% from the 3 and 67% from the line for the season (he also shot 31% from 3 last year).

Certainly wasn't just "Two bad games"...

He takes care of the ball well... if we just want a guy who can distribute and doesn't need to score he certainly has proven he can do that... however offensively he still hasn't shown he has confidence in his shot.

Dickerson
Jok
Atwood
Lee (guy from Temple)
Woody

Best case... But 2 of the guys aren't even on the roster.

I like how now we want all these transfers, after people have been blasting ISU for 4 years for doing things the "wrong way"

Can Fran handle the egos of these transfers like Hoiberg? We will see.

1. "All these" transfers? We're talking about 2 guys. Hoiberg has built his team around guys leaving other programs. (and has no trouble kicking some of his current players to the curb to make room for them)

2. Big difference between a "transfer", and guy moving up from JUCO.

Agree! Fran knows the Hawks need to upgrade the point guard position. That is why he went after the kid that signed with Kentucky & is bringing in Dickerson. Dickerson is coming to Iowa to be the starting point guard.

If Dickerson doesn't start & someone doesn't develop into the next Nik Stauskas, this team will be very offensively challenged next year. I just don't see where Iowa is going to get its points.

How could mike ever get in a rhythm with all of that sick depth we had? Fran was a master at utilizing that depth i tell ya... Please write a booook

Pretty sure during games that Sparew is assigned the coaching responsibilities and Frans got the refs duties. Solid. Fffffffrg

It will be interesting to see how and how much Dickerson will be used next year. He looks like a player who can create off the dribble which is what the Hawks really need. Gesell tries to do that, but far too often he's a step too slow. Please know I'm not giving up on Gesell as I think his best days as a player are ahead of him.

1-Dickerson/Gesell
2-jok/oglesby
3-uthoff/jok
4-white/olaseni
5-Woodbury/olaseni

If we don't get Atwood then may god help us all

When is William Atwood supposed to make his decision? Hope he does so soon so I can stop pathetically checking his twitter stuff.

If there is any hope for next year, Jok needs to improve his D enough to be a starter.

Edit: I should say that I believe next year's team will be more "team" oriented after subtracting...

They are JUCO transfers. Big difference than players getting kicked off of teams and coming in.

Hopefully Dickerson can provide a little more in the drive-in-kick game and pick-n-roll situations. Cartwright was pretty good with the pick-n-roll, and Clemmons is probably better at making that pocket pass than Gessell (Clemmons just does not a lot of other dumb stuff).

Gessell, at this point, doesn't really create offense for others. He's more an undersized combo guard, that looks for his own shot off screens and penetration.

Agree with every word which is why I think a Dickerson/Gesell backcourt might work.

Gessell could be a very solid off guard & an adequate backup at the point. His skill set is better suited for the #2 spot. I like him. I appreciate his hustle & effort. However, Mike is not the answer at the point.

Also, I think his shooting would improve considerably if he didn't have to handle the ball.

Except for Lester, this team may have as much or more talent than the '79 Championship team. But, that's the kicker. The '79 team was basically Lester & six role players. Though, Boyle was freshman of the year.

There is a huge difference in my opinion between taking a juco transfer and a D1 transfer that has been kicked off of another team. I am ok with the former, I do not support the latter.
and different than a 5th player who has already graduated.
