Beneventi Not A Hawk

They're going to have to or he's never going to see the field. He doesn't fit at all what we run currently.

Boyle reminds me a little bit of Dan Persa, a QB we're all too familiar with. Not saying he's going to be that good, but their basic games are similar.

Interesting because didn't this kid sort of go back and forth a bit about his commitment.... That he was still going to explore other options? His poor numbers this year are a head scratcher.

This is how I remember it. I don't know if Beneventi was ever a strong commitment. As of September he was attending an Illini game on an un-official visit. I know this stuff happens all the time, but he made comments at a camp that he was keeping his options open even after committing to Iowa. I have no problem with this decision from an Iowa stand point.

Agreed. Wonder what kind of crap would be going the coaches way if he decommitted after receiving accepting another offer. Also, if he struggled so much in a different offense his senior year, what's to say he's able to pick up and flourish under our offense. There's a good chance that he may have to learn multiple offenses in the 4-5 years he'd be in Iowa City.

Anyone who has seen my posts on here knows that I'm about as far from a KF apologist as you can get....but those of you criticizing him for this move are either complete morons or have such a big axe to grind that you'll criticize for absolutely anything.

Here's a coach that has honored scholarship offers for kids that have had season-ending injuries in HS. A coach that has honored scholarship for players that have been injured to the point that they had to drop football all together. KF has a lot of issues, but this criticism is just a$$inine.

KF has only ever pulled schollys for 2 reasons: 1) Significant legal troubles, and 2) Recruits that start looking around without informing the staff. Based on that, I'd say it's pretty apparent that Jack was still looking around and, with the QBs we already have on campus and in the fold, recruiting-wise, there's no reason to continue honoring the offer when it wasn't being reciprocated.
