Great. Maybe we can be good by 2020 or so.Iowa has taken a more aggressive approach in recruiting since hiring Seth Wallace. He was instrumental in getting Juan Harris, and I’ve noticed more offers out there for other talented 2017 kids.

So he gave out 3 scholarships knowing he was only going to honor two? Losing to crappy programs plus SEC ethics!? DAMN! That raise and extension can't get here fast enough!
It is simple...we had 3 committed qbs in the class. You typically don't have more than 2 schools qbs in a class. Usually you have only 1. So the scholly was taken away from 1 of the 3. This isn't as uncommon as people think even at iowa.
better to be cutthroat than to waste a scholly
Hmmm.....seems vaguely familiar. I can't quite put my finger on why.Everyone raved about his arm but in watching his vid, all it did was show him throwing lollipops to wide open receivers.
So dumping a kid that's been committed for months because he had a bad senior year is perfectly fine, but chasing them off after they sign is scuzzy and SEC-like. Got it."As far as the team is concerned (gasp I'm actually talking football), this was the right decision and it sounds like they did it as respectfully as they could." Agreed. When Iowa starts recruiting a dozen more kids than we can keep, starts cutting off scholarships when a player gets hurt and dumps current team players who aren't progressing fast enough, then we'll be SEC like.

I'll repost here what I said on another board:
I feel genuinely bad for Jack B after all that has gone down with him the last seven months or so. First, his grandfather is ill and in bad enough shape that Jack and his parents have to move across Chicago to be near Jack's grandfather. Next, Jack switches to a school closer to where he moved and he has to learn a totally new offensive system. Third, he really struggles on the field and ultimately gets benched. To top it off, Iowa pulls his scholarship offer.
I still believe that Jack is a very talented QB. I think if things had gone differently for him on a personal level, he may have had a great season and we'd all be pumped for him to be a Hawkeye. Obviously that isn't the case, and I hope Jack can land on his feet some place. I just hope this doesn't come back to bite the Hawkeyes.
All this said, I don't blame Iowa for pulling the scholly. If they don't think he can ever be a starter, there's no need to him to have a scholarship. College football is a business, and I'm glad the Hawkeyes are treating it like one. I just feel for bad for Jack. I'm sure that this is not at all what he dreamed his senior year of high school would be like, and I hope he can bounce back strong from all this.
Agreed. Well said jumper. I didn't know that about his Grandfather. Tough string of luck for a kid his age. I'm confident he'll land on his feet somewhere. Hopefully in the long run he can look back and realize how all these things made him a stronger person.
So does this mean that Boyle and Cook will stay at QB? I know most kids, especially QBs, don't want to switch positions but I remember Boyle to S and Cook to TE threads on here. Maybe not.
If CJB transfers and the above mentioned don't stick at QB, what's left in the clipboard cupboard? Wiegers?
Unless the staff has another target in mind, I'd rather have a 6-6, 200# kid that played QB on scholly than a 2nd punter.
