Beatherd caused one or two timeouts

One of the reasons Kirk prefers Rudock.

Hopefully Kirk values Bertherd over Rudock after this week.

We shall see.

He also caused points on every drive and win

And this is where are at, IMO. CJ is goin to miss some little things. Not sure entirely if that last timeout was on him or a formation. But where CJ might take you a step or two back in areas, he takes you five steps forward. JR might be two forward and one back...more forward with CJ, IMO, given the offense Greg wants to run.

I think JR would be a good QB in KOK system...but not in the horizontal passing offense.

The one thing that seems apparent to me after watching both QBs this year is that Rudock is a little better QB during dead-ball situations and Beathard is a little better QB during live-ball situations. I can definitely understand the appeal of Rudock for this reason, but I think I have seen enough that I prefer the high-risk/high-reward option of Beathard.

(In some ways, this reminds me a little bit of situation that the 49ers went through when the transitioned from Alex Smith to Colin Kaepernick.)

iowa sucks at using timeouts at the end of games - and halfs - so why give a crap when they use them to get there act together when driving for TDs?

I would re-state your post to state he "Called" instead of "Caused". We don't know the reasons why they were called, it could have been a personnel issue or it could have been on CJ because he had not received the necessary practice time with the first team.:)

I don't know why they were called but I would rather him call the TO than to doubt what he's been given to execute. And I certainly wouldn't view it as a mistake, but how I view it doesn't really matter....if you know what I mean.

In the end, taking his second half performance in its entirety, it was stellar.

Beathard is going to be a lot like Brett Farve in terms of style of play. He might force some throws and turn it over, but he's also got that game changing ability and big arm. Not saying Beathard IS Farve, he's just got that "gunslinger" mentality and good tools.

Rudock is more of a game manager who throw the safe passes but doesn't have that explosive arm.

CJ more than countered any time out situation, you feel was his fault, with his backpedaling, under pressure, 3rd down laser to Hamilton, off his back foot and right before getting nailed, for a first down to save a drive. Yeah, CJ has it.

Exactly!!!! One of the worst staffs at knowing how to use timeouts and or manage the clock. Like today for example. 4th down and Ferentz calls a timeout to see if the refs would challenge the spot ???
Also have flashbacks at Northwestern before half and we spike the ball on 1st down with 2 timeouts left. Or even the hail mary against LSU. No timeout called

Play the better game QB/football player and we all know who that is. It is a no brainer.
Shoulda played from week 1

This is it right here. Iowa coaching staff isn't exactly known for getting plays in at a Chip Kelly like rate.

funny and stuff... because one thing Kirk is definitely not good at without debate is using or not using timeouts.

Kirk good at making offensive lineman... in game management not so hot to trot...

This where I am too. With kok rudock would do better just as jvb did better under him. But with a new system different players thrive and it seems like beathard will thrive more than rudock in this one.
