BCS Championship Game

I am curious so I want to see everyone's opinions. Alabama is pretty much a shoe-in, but if LSU loses in SEC championship game, should they be allowed to play in BCS championship game anyway? For the record, I think LSU is ungodly good. However, should they be allowed to lose their conference championship game and not be penalized just because they are one of the best teams this year? Any other sport, if you are the best and you don't win, you don't get to go to the championship game. Baseball: if you don't win the AL/NL CS, you don't go to the World Series. NCAA BB: you lose once in March Madness, you don't go to championship game...

Also, if you wouldn't put LSU there to face Bama, who would you put in (barring they win their conference championship game)? Stanford? oK state (who shouldn't be anywhere near top ten for losing to ISU IMO)? Boise?

So you don't think LSU should play in championship game for losing the sec championship, but you seem to have no problem with Bama being in there for not even playing in it?

How funny would it be if this does happen. Bama plays LSU for the nc and both in the same conference and neither won it. College football is messed up

The best two teams I've seen are LSU and Alabama. I feel they deserve to play in the BCS CG. If LSU is upset by Georgia that doesn't change my opinion, much in the same way if GB gets beat by the Giants next Sunday, I still believe they are the best team in the NFL.

The only other team I would consider close to LSU/Alabama right now is USC.

I would throw Ok St in there but you can't lose to ISU and be taken seriously as a BCS title contender.

I'm not saying Bama deserves it either, but they are done playing and are sitting at #2, wrongly or rightly, they are probably in. I don't agree with it, but they don't have another chance to lose and BCS voters are biased enough to leave them there or even raise them to #1 if LSU loses (but are also biased enough to leave LSU at #2)

No, I already saw this game and will not watch if there is a rematch. You should all join in this boycott.

LSU and Alabama appear to be the two best teams in the country. However, I just can't stand the thought of a team playing for the NC against a team they lost to on their own field.

Two teams playing for the NC when neither won their own conference is criminal.

I would love to see Okie state get a shot.

Being the best team shouldn't = entitlement to play in championship. That's my point.

I know. You asked for opinions. This is mine.

And I believe your statement above expresses everything that is wrong with college football, the BCS, and bowl games in general.

Once again that is opinion. I understand and respect the opposite POV. I just don't think bowl games, computers, when your one loss occured & votes should determine a champion.

I honestly couldnt ******* care less about the BCS game as it isn't a championship game, its just one of many good football games on that weekend, nothing more, nothing less. Perhaps someday ncaa division one football will have a championship game.

LSU should be in. Plus they aren't losing to Georgia anyways. They beat Oregon, Alabama and throttled Arkansas, who else has beat multiple teams at that skill level?

We can only hope. Perhaps they should put someone like you in charge?

I agree. It's sad that one of the two or three best sports in the world doesn't crown a champion.

Seriously...right on.

Very right on.

BCS = (take your pick)
SHAM: Something that is not what it purports to be; a spurious imitation.

FACADE: A showy outward appearance that is maintained to conceal a less pleasant or creditable reality.

SHARADE: An absurd pretense intended to create a pleasant or respectable appearance.

FRAUD: A thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities.

Two teams from the same conference should not be able to play for the NC. It's unbelievable that the current system allows this. If you don't win your conference, you do not play for a chance to be crowned National Champ.

Michigan was purposefully kept out of a title game rematch with OSU in 2006 by the voters, as teams kept losing the last two weeks after the OSU/Mich game...so they simply voted another team ahead of Mich.

The voters need to put in any other one loss team to play for the title other than Alabama. They had their shot, they got beat at home. VT or Ok State if they finish with one loss should be in. Unfortunately Stanford won't be playing for their conference title, so not sure what you do with them, but they have had teams who don't win the conference play for the NC before....

No way Alabama and LSU should play each other again, the only reason Bama is #2, because the pollsters only dropped them to #3 after their loss when other teams take 5-10 spot drops in the polls.

I have no issue with two team from the same conference being in the title game if they are the two best teams.

True, except.... LSU already beat Alabama so if Alabama beats LSU in NC game they are 1-1 do we play a 3rd game to decide it? Only fair isn't it? system is flawed:mad:

Agreed. Actually with the way LSU has played this year and with who they have beaten and everyone else's record it's hardly fair that they have to play a championship game at all. They really should just be awarded the title at this point.
