BCS Championship Game

Agreed. Actually with the way LSU has played this year and with who they have beaten and everyone else's record it's hardly fair that they have to play a championship game at all. They really should just be awarded the title at this point.

Works for me.... somehow I think $ talks tho:)

Why is it different than any other sport? Did the Cardinals win their division this year? Did the Mavs win the Western Conference? How bout the Packers last year?

College Basketball has teams play 3 (in some instances 4) times. Is that fair if a team wins 3 times and loses the 4th?

**** happens in sports. Nothing is perfect or fair.

Let the 2 best teams play each other, regardless of what conference or if they have played. It's not their fault numerous teams ****** down their legs this year...

alabama had their shot ..lost why not OK st if they have one loss, or Stanford?
How does anyone say Alabama is the 2nd best team? System is flawed

I actually think the BCS is the best attempt at being "fair", though it is still incredibly flawed. If people want champion to mean the best team, it's the best effort to have that truly be so.

I honestly couldnt ******* care less about the BCS game as it isn't a championship game, its just one of many good football games on that weekend, nothing more, nothing less. Perhaps someday ncaa division one football will have a championship game.

Well said Duff. And what if LSU and Bama play again and Bama wins? Technically how does that make them champs since they beat each other once? Just because they played another game called the championship game?

In that scenario it seems they would need to play a third time to really settle it.

What a mess.

Couldn't agree more....

And what if LSU beat Alabama in the NC Game? How anti-climactic would that be? "oh I guess we should have known that would happen".

Look guys I agree the system is flawed, but again don't understand why the logic is any different than any other sport?

Green Bay could go undefeated this year until the Super Bowl and then perhaps play a team they had already beat and lose. Why is that fair just because they lost in the "championship" game?

The "best" teams rarely make it to the championships in most sports due to the playoff style finish where anyone can beat anyone on a given day (or series)

Do I think they need to change the way the champion is crowned? Yes! But the way it is now it's subjective to the 2 best teams and this year it's Bama and Lsu hands down...

Alabama should play @ LSU and if they win, the rubber match should be played on a neutral field for the national championship.

Well said. The same gripe about a team beating a team they already lost to in the postseason could also be made in a playoff scenario. What's the difference?

If only we had another way to settle this...

Oh, wait, we do in every other sport at every other level EXCEPT D1-A football:

A ******* playoff!

It is fair because it would be decided on the field. Not because of votes or computers or what your preseason ranking was.

USC (if eligible), Stanford, Ok St, VT, Boise, etc all of these teams deserve a chance to redeem themselves after their loss or losses.

But under the current system it only allows for 2 teams to have a chance at the "championship".

unfortunately, in reality, they are the two best teams. I would like to see them play out of conference to solidify that one of them (lsu) is the best, but again, in reality, who would it be?

fortunately I've seen this game so I just won't have to watch again. but I probably will tune in for a small bit due to it being a good matchup.

We really need a +1 game and all of this would be settled. Play all the bowls and pit the #1 vs #2 after the bowl games are over. An all SEC NC game is not fair to the rest of the conferences. I will be a big Georgia fan next weekend so that a non SEC team can get in.
