"A lawsuit filed against Baylor University by a former female student on Friday alleges that the football program fostered a culture in which alcohol and illegal drugs were provided to recruits, and that coaches encouraged female students in the Baylor Bruins hostess program to have sex with recruits and players."

"The plaintiff's attorney, John Clune, of Boulder, Colorado, said his firm's investigation uncovered at least 52 acts of rape, including five gang rapes, by no fewer than 31 Baylor football players from 2011 to 2014."

The message boards for Baylor are interesting. Lot's of denial. When I was in college gang rapes were common at frats. You'd hear about it, it just wasn't called rape them. Just a drunk girl who was easy. I imagine that MN, Louisville, and Baylor aren't isolated cases. Kind of ironic with Ken Starr being involved at Baylor.

Think things couldn't happen anywhere? Totally non transparent contracts, nepotism, rich booster making an indiot of himself and NOT being kicked out of a game.

No, couldn't happen just anywhere.

Not only as a recruit but as a parent of a recruit this whole situation has to be worrisome. If put in the position not sure if it would be the place I would be willing to pull the trigger especially with the guilt by association perception that is out there. I do not feel this is going to end well for Baylor football.

Baylor decided to make athletics relevant again, and went about it in a way that caused great harm to many. I wonder if they are or will take a deep breath and think about their school's mission.

When you see a schools football program turn from worst to near first in a short time, you have to wonder...and I'm not surprised.

They should have just shut that program down... Briles shouldn't be allowed to even clean toilets for any program. At best they had a culture of encouraging permiscuous behavior. At worst... Well they've been accused of it and tried to keep it all hush hush to boot. They don't deserve to have a program anymore it's that simple. It went all the way to the top as far as the silencing of it all went. Which is no better then what was going on. They are supposed to be the adults... Too busy trying to save their own asses to worry about right and wrong...

I watched a little of the Ole Miss game and the Ole Miss fans were chanting 'no means no'. It made me feel uncomfortable and the announcers calling the game didn't know what to say. 52 allegations of sexual assault since 2011 is deplorable. If you got 10 in that time frame that is waaaay too many.

Not sure what you're getting at. But it's strange, nonetheless.

Would you send your daughter to Baylor? Not me!

IMO, If even half that crap is true, they need to board that place up.

Not sure what part is strange. Ken Starr and the Bill Clinton connection is one. The other part is that gang rape, gang bangs, what ever you want to call it, has been a problem for a long time in a lot of places. At my university it was at frat parties and the band that I had personal awareness of (not as a participant). It always involved alcohol and I didn't drink nor did I think it was funny. U can easily see this thread digressing into Baylor = Bad and because we are Iowa that Iowa = Good. Plug in Goofers or whoever, it is a problem everywhere. Iowa has had several things come to light in the past and my recollection is that it could have been worse if publicized today. Athletes on about every college campus have had "privileges" for various activities.

Don't think so? Let your mind explore the incident between the obnoxious booster at the basketball game. Most mere mortals would minimally be asked to shut up, likely asked to leave or worse. Don't think people have privilege? I personally have some knowledge of some activities of players not that long ago and at least one booster in the football program.

Mostly these types of things are getting publicity. I personally know a lady who was a victim in one of the types of activities when I was in school. It was very sad and in no way reflects who she is today. She's happily married to a doctor. The emotional scars are pretty deep.

I would be concerned about sending your 18,19 yo old daughter away to any college/university. A big change in maturity happens after that age. Baylor probably would now be one of the safer places to go now.

I would absolutely want Iowa punished if they used tactics like this. Baylor's program should be shut down. Absolutely pathetic that this is going on at a so called Christian university.

I suspect, though I'm not pointing at anyone, that many people on here would be defending the coaches if we were coming off of a similar run/team as Baylor has.

As for a Christian university, in my experience as much good is there, I've seen some of the worst people out there that hide behind their religion and "pray away" all their mistakes. Sometimes, it feels like the churches have reinstate indulgences.

Hell, one is too many without sever repercussions.

Didn't Ferentz suspend Coker just from, as I understand it, unsubstantiated info?

Christian universities and high schools are interesting creatures. First, they do tend to be magnets for those of ill intention. My boys in high school played soccer at a public school. The 2 dirtiest teams they played were both Christian schools. I do think that people associated with Christian schools and universities tend to be affluent in order to be able to afford it and with that maybe comes a sense of entitlement. One of the coaches was an abuser of children and the Christian community didn't want to begin to address it as the was so believable.

And I agree that if this situation were Iowa there would be a lot of support in defense of the university especially if the coaches were revered for bringing a program back.

Basically, from this thread your point has been Iowa fans shouldn't talk about Baylor's disgusting actions because it could happen at Iowa. Well, it didn't happen at Iowa, and frankly I can't see 52 sexual assaults happening at Iowa over a decade let alone a 4 year period. Most fans would not support the program if it was Iowa. It's disturbing how many Baylor fans are defending the program and Briles. Please stop trying to vilify Iowa for something they haven't done.
