Basabe tabbed as B1G 2nd teamer

Thats funny that Hummel is a 1st teamer. Dude blew out his knee and hasn't played a game in a year.

Its also interesting that they have Basabe listed as a F/C. Maybe they know something?

Gatens should take this as a direct slap in his face not even making it onto the lists. Hopefully it motivates him to come out and prove them all wrong.

Meyers Leonard? I guess they needed to come up with somebody, right? No way that kid averages more than 5 and 5 this year.

They are using the 5th spot for a F or a C, hence the F/C

Enjoy him while he's here, you might only have two more years of him.

Not this again. Unless Basabe improves his perimeter to where he is shooting mid-30% from three point range, and improves his ballhandling exponentially, that's not going to happen. He is too small to play the 4 in the NBA.

He's not to small to play the 4. He's got the reach of a 7 footer and is going to weight over 240 pounds by the end of next year.

It has been well over a year since Hummel has played a game. He blew out his knee towards the end of the 2009-2010 season @Minny and then blew out his knee the very first practice last fall. Its going on 20 months since Hummel has played in a game.

It's nice to see a reality check from an objective source for the homers on here that think Cartwright is a stud and Gatens is good.

Cartwright is league average at best. People blow him because he played a ton of minutes and recorded a decent total assist #. Nevermind the fact that he builds houses with the bricks he thows up and is a turnover machine.

Gatens is nothing more than a spot shooter off the bench on a good team and an average one at best in that capacity. He lacks the athleticism to give him any consideration for this list.

Many of you think we have a top Big 10 pg, a top pf and a sf that deserves all-conference recognition, but fail to correlate this great roster of talent to our amazing record last year. You must not realize that BJ Armstrong was never better than a 2nd teamer and Horner/Oliver were never better than third teamers. All three of those guys were superior to Cartwright.

Reality:
Basabe is the 2th-4th best pf in the league

Cartwright is the 4th-5th best pg in the league

Gatens is the 4th-5th best sf in the league

To follow up on the last post, what is Basabe, anyway?
Center? No.
Power foward? IMO, No - he can't guard other power forwards (unless you count fouls).
Small forward? Probably.
Shooting guard? Maybe - his long-range shooting touch is probably suspect.
Point guard? Are you kidding?

Maybe Basabe will guard small forwards and make offensive moves against power forwards.

Which make me wonder how Indiana has 3 on there.

Keep in mind one of the 3 is Cody Zeller who was the 14th best recruit in the country. UNC was a much different team with the addition of Harrison Barnes, which shows that it's pointless to predict these totals based solely on last years results. Not comparing Zeller to Barnes in terms of talent, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Zeller perform well enough to garner 3rd team or honorable mention. Certainly freshman player of the year is within reach. Watford was a productive player last year and displayed good range for a post. Verdell Jones was a fairly efficient shooter. Gatens has only shot above 40% once in his career (as a frosh).

sullinger says basabe can guard of

yeah I mean he did lead the big ten league play in assist, you think that would get him at least second team. .

He also averaged a whopping 3.3 TO's per game and has never shot above .400fg%. He has a very limited perimeter game, is only a mediocre ft shooter and doesn't draw a lot of fouls. Keep cherry-picking stats though.
