Barta fires warning shot to Ferentz

This post defines "stupid". To be fair, several of your other posts also do a respectable job of it.

What does it matter much he has in the bank? My guess is if we had gone 9-3 or better every year since 2002, you'd say, "Of course, we pay the coach an ungodly amount of money to do so!".

If you think he has kept and saved every dime during the term of his contract, nothing else anyone says will penetrate your noggin.

For starters, he and his family have given a healthy sum to UI, hospitals, etc. And there's that old tax gig. And last I checked, houses aren't free (except in The Motherland, maybe?).

<<As a matter of fact, I'm almost positive behind closed doors...>>

I knew it. You're from the NSA.

Yeah, I'm sure the Ferentz family has had to spend an EXORBITANT amount of money buying a house and living in Iowa City for the last 15 years, you idiot. I sure as hell hope they can make ends meet on the super ritzy North side of IC. Even if they have given a few million back to the U, that still leaves him with a minimum of around $20 million or so in his bank account, you moron. Only an uber doosh such as yourself would hold the entity responsible for bestowing such generational wealth on someone ransom just so he can have another $20 million to put in some Swiss bank account so he can stare at the account balance until the day he dies cause God knows he'll never spend it in 15 lifetimes. Sounds like fun.

This is getting good. I heard we're playing a game here coming right up in September. Any truth to that rumor? Big insider donor told me, so just wanted to check.

You seem upset, but I don't know why.

Karl? Oh, Karl?

You DO realize that there are "wealthy" people who do NOT give charitably, right? And there are "poor" people who DO give.

Giving isn't an response to resources, it's a response to commitment and conviction.

Are you expecting or demanding he "give"? And do you think his house was free? He still had to pay for it. You have ZERO idea how much money he has in his bank account. But whatever he DOES have, it's his right to leave it to his family, charities of his choice, the U of I, etc.

BTW, your post defies logic...except in a socialist/Communist or other tyrannical entity.

And do you have ANY clue what his tax rate is? Obviously not.

Youre an angry troll...now calm down right meow.

If it wasn't for the contract Ferentz is still the coach today. Iowa is a University that values long-tenured coaches. Iowa is a University who understands what state they're from and what that means the teams legitimate place in the Big Ten hierarchy and college sports hierarchy is. Its also a school who understands Ferentz graduates his kids, builds quality young people (always outliers), and brings in, and watch this now, A LOT OF MONEY TO THE UNIVERSITY!!!!! So you can talk about the 4 mill a year, and highest state employee, and yada yada but if you take into account the money he brings into the University of Iowa and the sports program to help pay for other stuff like ladies water polo and group symmetric gymnastics, he is a bargain at 4 million. Barta is a money guy, he's not an emotional fan guy. Kirk would still be the guy. He might be catching more flack at this point, but he'd still be the guy.

Exactly right, even if he has two more in a row Iowa is still on the hook for over 10 million in buyout money. I know a lot of fans are upset, but I don't see this being similiar to bball where a mass exodus of fans left carver. This is football and football is part of the framework of our culture, Hawk fans will have a hard time giving up their seats to prove a point.

no - you don't have to look that long ago to see Kinnick stadium not at capacity on saturdays. fry had some bad teams in the mid to late 90s. full stadiums are not a given. the 4-8 team last year was much better than many of the teams in the 90s. some bad football. draw on 3rd and long was a mainstay, and a quick kick on 3rd down didn't surprise any after a while......

I was talking to my confidential informant (who I cant identify so dont ask) who works in the janitor crew that cleans Kirk's office and bathroom.

Well, it seems they downgraded him to single ply paper. When I asked him if Barta told him to do this to force out Kirk he slighty moved his broom, I think we can all take that as a big YES

That is one funny post. Well done

I moved back to Iowa in the late 90's. I was so excited to see Iowa football again (they did not get nationally broadcast much back then). They played Illinois, and I sat near the Illinois students. They kicked our butts, specifically their kicker Neal Rackers, and it was insufferable.

I'd prefer not to relive those times.
