You folks don't understand much about what makes Rhoads tick. He has turned down more money for himself to ensure the new football facility was built. He turned down more money to make sure his assistants were properly compensated. His family is from central Iowa and his dad is getting up in years. Both his boys are in high school, so you can certainly relate as KF has made sure of family stability in IC. Rhoads has just started a new 10 yr contract and has started to make great strides in recruiting. He is going nowhere, and certainly would not go to work for a guy who is a control freak like Alvarez.

I believe he has the Clones in 6th place among B12 schools currently. But more importantly, he is getting the kids he wants and there is very low attrition.

.500 seasons at Iowa and people want Ferentz head on a platter. .500 seasons at ISU and people want to give Rhoads a parade.
I don't think Rhodes is about the money, but surely he understands what happened to McCarney. Rhodes hasn't had the 9 win season McCarney had yet. Pollard shamelessly escorted McCarney to the door, despite everything McCarney did for the school. The same McCarney that some speculate turned down a chance to coach TCU after the 9-3 season. Point being Rhodes surely understands as I am sure most coaches do: you are one bad season from going from hero to goat, so you better strike while the iron is hot. What happens to Rhodes 3 years from now if he goes 7-5, 6-6, 6-6? Is he still as beloved, or his he getting heat for not getting to the "next level'? I think it's the latter.
Barry himself was a DC at Notre Dame before taking Wisc job. BB was his DC before being promoted. I can see Diaco getting a shot at Wisconsin job due to similarities. I dont see Rhoads having high interest but who knows.

The record against Iowa isn't .500. It's higher. KF doesn't understand that. Never will. Real Iowa fans understand it very well.

.500 at ISU is the equivalent of .800 at Iowa.
He has protection for that. It is called a long term contract with a nice buyout......KF surely understands what that protection means.
Look at avg, that's what your average player is ranked, ISU's is the lowest. Just because you sign more 2 star guys because of your high number of seniors, doesn't mean your class is any better than the schools who signed less higher ranked recruits.
Why should I manipulate the rankings like you want to do? I will just evaluate them as presented. I don't put much value in the rankings for kids that are 2 & 3 stars. The recruiting services only get fairly accurate with the obvious high ranked kids. Kids develope differently and only coaches really spend the time to evaluate the kids that aren't the obvious top end recruits.
Coaches don't want buyouts. They want to coach. If, by your logic, Rhodes was worried about money he would absolutely field an offer from Wisconsin. Despite everything McCarney did at ISU he wasn't able to even sniff another decent head coaching job because he missed his window. Bielema has it right - don't stick around one place too long b/c people end of getting tired of your schtick, you can't exceed the expectations you helped set, etc. I have no clue what Rhodes' intentions are, but what do you think McCarney would tell him if Rhodes sought his counsel?
Maybe Ferentz should follow Bielma's advice

You obviously don't know Rhoads either. The guy will leave for the right job, he won't leave for just any job, but he will leave for the right job. The guy is a competitor, and wants to be on the biggest stage, and sorry to say, that isn't at ISU. He will leave for the right opportunity, no matter what you think.

It may be for now, but it sure seems that if Rhoads is seen as building a "real" program then an annual .500 record isn't going to keep him off any sort of hot seat...
