Barkley Hill's Smile?

if Barkley hill is carrying the load for Iowa next year, the hawks are in deep ****.

I am in agreement with this post, nothing I have seen of Hill's tape has me thinking wow...Garmon is a far superior athlete, now decision making is a different subject entirely.

If he is seeing his share of carries next season I fear AIRBHG has thrown an even bigger monkey wrench into our season than 2 years ago..

Really…..I remember seeing film on Dom Douglass and I was very unimpressed. Thought it looked like questionable competition and he wasn’t really all that spectacular. And then viola, he was excellent as a true Frosh. Not in the head clearly, but as a player he was terrific.

Quite frankly I have seen multiple, multiple, multiple people say they really think Garman will be a WR or Sfty in college and yet you saw enuff film to see that he is clearly better than Hill at Rber……I find that interesting.

My instincts tell me what people see is 4 star athlete that looks fast and they naturally assume he is clearly the better Rber, when in reality speed isn’t what makes a good Rber. I was fairly impressed with Hills’ inside running and quite frankly I would never be so presumptuous as to suggest one was or would be better until they showed up and actually ran with the ball. Clearly one makes questionable decisions that we do know….

Just because I hadn’t watched it in awhile and this last post reminded me, I went to youtube to watch Hills work. He is a stud and although I’m sure some Iowa fans won’t like this comparison, he runs very much like Adam Robinson. Uncanny actually and he is a little bigger, a little stronger and yes I believe a little faster. Everyone talks about “homerun” hitters and it is really one of the silliest things when it comes to top tier Rbers. In the NFL and in college both…..I think Hill has a legitimate shot to be #1 with or without Garman on board and I truly expect Garman to be in the mix anyway.

He may not be as fancy or a cutback slice and dice you kind of runner, but he runs with power and looks like anger. He drags defenders and always falls forwards and fights for extra yards. He has fight and a lil mean streak in him

Yes Im glad I rewatched those videos, he excites me.....on a related note I do enjoy your level headed posts and your positivity.

U don’t realize this, but you’ve fallen right into the rut I pegged you in…;)

Ohhhh did you peg me as the guy who knows many people injured or killed by dumbasses like you that drive around high and drunk?

Or did you peg me as a guy whose truck was tboned by a drunk?

Friend I haven't even drank in 10 years in December and I feel pretty confident you don't know many people as honest or accountable as me....and that includes you. You are a pi&^% moaning, finger pointer and nasty on regular basis so you go ahead and do what you do and I’ll do what I do. But just so we are clear, I tell life stories about myself to show my failings and to suggest the reality of those who are “hiding†behind the keys of a message board….I tell it like it is….you on the other hand do not.

You too have done bad sh*(&**…..I’ll bit you’ve even drove drunk and you are right it is very, very bad, period!

Travis sounds like a great post for someone that owns a business and freely advertises on this site. Noted that flooring business will never head your way!

My mistake for not seeing your previous post, I posted from my phone as opposed to my computer. But, I appreciate the feedback and I thank you for that insight. It is people like you that keep me postin ;)

I for one am on the Dawson bandwagon. Nobody seems to be mentioning his name. He will be one we will all be pleasantly surprised with come this fall

Forget Dawson. The real name that no one is mentioning (inexplicably, I might add) is DeAndre Johnson.

i believe this is because johnson has been on campus for the longest and seemingly got passed by canzeri and bullock. then you put in the fact that garmon and hill are equally or higher rated than those 2 were. i go with hill as being one of the 2 in a tandem because of his running style and what i saw of him live in hs. the kid runs a lot like arob with more athleticism, speed, quickness. which i think if arob had just a little more get up and go in him he would have not been hurt as much because he did all he did by taking a lot of punishment behind the los.

johnson is good and i think he could be part of a tandem but i dont think he has the power or the speed to really separate from the other rbs.

my thoughts with the garmon news:

main rbs - hill and bullock (arob and wegher type combo)

main back up - johnson

minor back up (plays special teams) - dawson

possible rs or plays limited rb time and more of a wr - garmon

In more ways than one a DKJ type?

Hawks cannot afford any injuries or additional issues at the RB position as they already have minimal depth entering this season. I've also seen Barclay Hill play during his HS career but am not convinced he is ready to step in day 1 and excel. I think with time he will become a good rb for the Hawks but think some's expectations for him this year are to high. Barclay looked excellent his Sr year against average competition but when matched up against speed and power defenses at the end of the year he was pretty much avg at best. (referring to IA City West and Bettendorf games)
I'm glad he chose IA over ISU and believe that with time/experience Barclay has the potential to be a solid back for the Hawks.
