On target, once again, Sportstalent....

What I liked even more is when he came back and admitted he was wrong on the importance May would play on the team last year. The old adage "it takes a big man to admit when they are wrong".

This is the year of the HAWK and the season I have been pointing to and waiting for since Fran's first year as Iowa's head coach. Hoping for the football team to surprise this year to help time move along quicker to the basketball season. GO HAWKS GO!!!

I'm glad my thoughts of May never made it on here before the season.. At least I haven't found them... Dude was awesome last year

The love Hank's character developed for that dog in that movie reminds me of some of the feelings hawkeye fans developed for Fran as he showed the value he brought to the Iowa basketball program. I wouldn't mind if Fran even slobbers once in awhile. Lol

The criticism against May was atrocious. He proved everyone wrong with his play, especially at crunch time on offense and defense. I liked his last play of the game and his career at Iowa when he stomped on the Baylor guard's ankle before leaving the court. He was manhandling us the entire game and basking in it.....

Even with the game definitely over he was playing like a nasty P****.....

Unc.. im not sure going into the season anyone could have projected May's contribution to the team..

Just imagine if Marble, McCabe, and Basabe all have senior year improvements like May, Gatens, and Cole.

Sounds fair. However, how are PTL highlight videos more legitimate that HS videos? Aren't PTL games just "Arena Basketball"?

If you're looking at PTL and exhibition saying "OMG this guy averaged 30ppg" and expect that to translate to the season I'd say you are correct. But... especially with guard play when someone is more often than not the leading Hawk scorer in both I think that says something.

Pete will likely not set the world on fire this year, but I'd predict that he will significantly contribute and on a few occasions "go off" offensively. The guy was the sole focus of other teams in HS so hitting a shot with someone in his face is not a new concept to him. Disclaimer: I also think you'll see a few games where he is "off" and doesn't contribute much, but I think the positive will far outweigh the negative.

I might have been one of the only ones, TMoney. I thought his defense would definitely be a factor and his three years experience in the Big Ten. There were times in his junior year that he would come in and settle the Lads down bringing the ball upcourt. I didn't anticipate his offensive production however. I had a feeling he would be a dependable factor throughout the season......

And he was the best three point shooter on the team, hands down.....

Perhaps you're correct, but couldn't I also add that in addition to making judgments based on stats, making judgments based on highlights can lead to equal disappointment?

Geez. Nobody is making a judgement based on stats. You are missing the whole point of the post.

Last year in the lone exhibition game, Josh Oglesby scored 15 points on 50% shooting. Obviously that carried over into the season.

Meh, I got nothin'

Sorry, one game does not equate to what Jok has done all summer. There is a difference.

I see people every year poopoo PTL performance. However, I then see the guys that did the best in PTL are also the guys that do the best in the season.

I have been saying this for three years and it has held true.

I've seen Iowa HS basketball, so please tell me that's a joke...

Good God, did Herby find a back door and slip through the permaban to become OLWPAORWWM??

Take whatever competition level you like (HS, AAU, PTL, exhibition), if you are consistently the most productive person in your group while stats don't directly translate it sure as he11 means something. Did Pete steal your girlfriend or something???
