B1G West - Predicted Order of Finish

Yup.
Here is an outsiders picks,
1st Wisconsin 7-2 10-2
2nd Iowa 6-3 9-3
T-3rd Nebraska 4-5 7-5
T-3rd Minnesota 4-5 7-5
T-3rd Northwestern 4-5 6-6
T-6th Illinois 1-8 4-8
T-6th Purdue 1-8 3-9
He says Wisconsin has an offense that is going to be tough to stop and gives Iowa a chance at it. Plus thinks Northwestern could give them problems.
Although all tied for 3rd, gives Northwestern the nod for 3rd if they start off good and stay healthy.
Whoever that outsider is he must be a Goofs fan. Second guess, Husker fan.

Nope. I'm not telling the whole story though either.
Like I said tied for 3rd but that doesn't mean equal.
Basically thinks Northwestern, then it gets tighter between Minnesota and Nebraska. Which I pretty much agree with.
Much like I feel Purdue just isn't going to be able to reload. They might be able to stay in games with offense, if they are playing a team with little to no offense themselves.

Because Wisconsin plays better "Iowa" ball than Iowa does.

Pummel you with their bruising line, run the ball down your throat and control the LOS and clock.
Pretty much.
I have to agree with Xerxes, Wisconsin just took Iowa's identity. They plain and simple out toughed us.
We will get it back and I don't suspect it is going to be easy.
Could be we are moving into those years when Iowa Wisconsin game draws a bunch of attention.
But really, that is the way it was always supposed to be.

Badgers are a top 5/6 team nationally. Consensus.

Wisconsin is clearly the team to beat in the West. I expect Iowa's defensive line to be better this year. They were decent last year, this is a year for them to take another step forward. This may be Iowa's key to stopping what looks to be a great offense for Wisconsin. Northwestern's hopes lay with their QB. Coming off knee surgery I wouldn't expect him to be the same player he was. And without a mobile QB NW is going to have some severe problems. Purdue lost a lot of defense. Their offense is about the same. Without their defense they will probably be back to their old form. Minnesota is a step above Illinois but that's not that big a complement. Illinois is looking to be the bottom feeder again.

Yup.
I heard Thorson has healed up fine. Or "up to speed". But after he starts pushing it? Who knows.
The thing is, we want to beat Wisconsin this year.
I know they reload fairly well, but to take them down, when they don't really have any excuses, should be a point of pride. Everyone says they are put together well this year.

There is really one game that will be pivotal to wether or not we have a great season...Wisconsin! If they come in and beat us, we may end up with another average 8-4, 7-5 season.
I’m absolutely positive BF has this game circled on the calendar! I bet he’s been dissecting game tapes of Wisky and game planning with the help of KOK and PP ever since the end of last season. I know I would if I was in his position. We got them at home, it’s early in the season, easier to get team motivated for a game like this. Lately it seems that we are able to beat at least one highly ranked team at home. Likely a night game. We have decent enough kickers if the game comes down to a late fg. If are waiting in the weeds and upset the Badgers at home, I think this will give the Hawks the momentum for another magical season. If we lose... like I said, we may end up with another average season. This is the pivotal GAME OF THE YEAR for the Hawks! It will be another tough Iowa/Wisconsin slobberknocker and would love for us to come out on top! We only have to win by 1 point!

Yes Wisconsin is the key game. In the West, Iowa has the best shot in the West of taking down Wisconsin. On Thorsen, very seldom does a player come back as good as he was before a knee injury. Not hoping for bad things for him. He's a great athlete. I would rather he is fully healed the day after they play Iowa.

Which team will have a better year? Nebraska or Purdue?

Well Purdue is playing sound football and I expect Nebraska will begin to
Nebraska has never been wanting for skill players. Don't know how long it takes for the to get more physical at the line of scrimmage.

I'll say Purdue will be better. They seem to always have a very good QB and they know how to use it.
Purdue lost some key players on defense this year. Their offense will be about the same which means they may be more like the old Purdue than last year's Purdue. I can see Nebraska winning 7 or 8 games this year.

Bump, for those coming back now that the season has started.
Timely bump. I'm staying with my original projections but I think Nebraska at 4-5 in the B1G has more downside risk now that their backup QB is a true walk-on freshman. That's not a good "insurance policy" when your starter is a dual threat QB who is likely to take some big hits.
