B1G Schedule

When I heard the schedule, I thought it may be one of the most manageable conference schedules and bodes well for Iowa. The away games aren't historically the most difficult teams and the historically better teams come to Carver. Can't ask for much more.

Now time for them to take care of business. Shouldn't be a bubble team this year.
 


It looks like our first two Cayman Islands games are going to be vs crappy RPI teams. So they're basically must wins on a neutral court in the Caribbean which sucks. Same thing with the Drake game. Colorado ended last year with a 99 RPI ranking. So we really need to face Cincy in Cayman to get any RPI boost from any of our neutral court games.

It depends who those 20 wins are against and what Iowa does in the B1G. They can't afford to lose any gimmes this season like UNO. The only upside to this bad rpi schedule is that they don't have any game in the OOC even comparable (ie a team hovering around top 150 RPI) that could bite us. That stretch at the beginning of Dec is brutal - I am sure all the coaches in the B1G are pissed.

It won't matter. 20 wins will be NIT for this team.

I was going to agree with this, but I'm not so sure. If Iowa goes 7-6 in the non-con but 13-5 in the B1G, that's a pretty good record. Same with 8-5/12-6. Both B1G records should finish in the top 4 of the B1G and should get a team into the dance.

It's when a team gets to 9-4/11-7 or 10-3/10-8 that things start getting murky. That kind of record is what puts a team on the bubble, like last year.

The only way they make the tourney after losing 6 non-conf games is if they either win the conf or win the BTT.

I disagree. IMHO, the committee can't keep a top 4 team from a power 5 conference out of the Dance.Just my opinion.
