B1G reprimands Pelini, fines Nebby $10,000

There isnt anything that might keep UNL from firing Bo after the bowl game if things go south.

If UNL thinks they have a great new coaching candidate available they may let BO GO.

But if they dont have a new coach in waiting they cant pull the plug

If they are going to fire him, they shouldn't wait until after the bowl game. That used to be a sufficient timeline for finding a replacement, but not anymore. They need to do it now if they are going to do it.

Bo is an insane maniac but you win 9 games for 5 years straight you obviously know what you are doing.

Agreed. We're talking about Nebraska though. They haven't reached 9 wins yet this year, and everyone knows they are extremely lucky to even be at 8. For a guy who is supposed to be a defensive minded coach at a school with a strong history of a stout defense their defenses under Pelini have been pretty awful. Certainly these last couple years. I was in Lincoln for the game this past Friday, and I honestly don't even know why they still call themselves the Blackshirts. I saw signs everywhere with the Blackshirt logo. I realize it's a major marketing tool for them, but the product they've put on the field doesn't remotely show respect to what the true Blackshirt defenses were like.

I find it improbable that they keep him for the bowl game but then fire him. Teams like to fire quickly to get an early shot at candidates.

They're keeping him. If they were going to fire him this was their best opportunity.

In my opinion, it is good news for Iowa. Because we're neighboring states I'm sure we're battling with them for a lot of recruits. I can't speak for anyone else, but if my kids were being recruited by Pelini I would politely say I think you should consider somewhere else (understanding ultimately it is their decision). Pelini is a jerkoff. I get that he's a "players coach", but I wouldn't want my kid playing for a guy who has no class or composure. Ferentz is the polar opposite. Because of this I think ultimately it helps Iowa as long as he's Nebraska's head coach.

This. Plus Bo hired another jerk as his defensive line coach.

The "blackshirts" are an illusion and its ridiculous that the fans think they need to keep living up to it. The bugeaters have not fielded a great defense in a very long time yet the fans think they should be elite every year because they had a some good defenses in the mid 90s. It would be like every Yankees team calling their offense "Murderer's Row" because the 1927 team was so potent. It makes no sense.

Quit digging a hole, 74Hunter. Lil Debby is not an "elite" program and hasn't been for years. Just say it out loud five times. I guarantee you'll find a sense of peace and tranquility, and a willingness to move forward in your life.

I don't recall saying that we have been. I was just pointing out that hawkinn3's statement was incorrect.

In a response to me and others on another thread you compared Bo's sideline demanor to other coaches in our league...last count 0 coaches fined or Universities.

Skers ran away from big 12 after they could hardly win the north anymore. They set up unequal revenue sharing then got mad when they got beat at their own game. They thought they had the remedy to the situation by jumping confrences. Still a shell of a program running on fumes. Bo is not helping the cause over there. The whole thing is like a slow moving train wreck but all the passengers are to dumb to jump off before this thing crashes.

Personally I get a pretty good kick out of what happens on there on west side of the river. It's like the weird dumb uncle your mom tells you not to laugh at durring thanksgiving but you can't help it.

Amazing to me that Nebraska is willing to let this Pelini sideshow continue. Every game now will be a "Pelini watch". What's he going to do today? Who did he spit on? How many F bombs, etc.?
Probably not long before he goes "Woody Hayes" on an opposing player running down the field or clubs some reporter.
Tick, tick, tick.

It is what it is. He said what he said (which was true, btw) and he'll pay the price.

Yeah, we only won or shared 4 of the last 5 North titles, including the last 3, and and played in 3 of the last 5 Big 12 CCGs, including the last 2.

Great point.

Only $10k? Can you imagine what Mark Cuban would say knowing that he would only get fined $10k for saying the officials made a chicken **** call, then continuing to berate them?
