B1G reprimands Pelini, fines Nebby $10,000

It is what it is. He said what he said (which was true, btw) and he'll pay the price.

Yeah, we only won or shared 4 of the last 5 North titles, including the last 3, and and played in 3 of the last 5 Big 12 CCGs, including the last 2.

Great point.

Curious... which part of what he said was true? You honestly think it was a chicken **** call? If that's what you mean then you are absolutely blinded by your bias. He routinely acts like a Neanderthal on the sidelines. In this instance he most definitely swung his hat at or towards the official. However you want to look at it he deserved to be flagged. So in no case whatsoever was it a chicken-sh!t call. It was the right call. The fact Bo decided to pull Kirk's name into the mess only shows how classless he is. That was bush league.

Why is a Nebraska fan so obsessed with the Hawkeyes that he posts on our board after the game is over? We are hawkeyes fans we don't give a **** about the bugeaters when we aren't playing them. We are focused on the bowl game and beyond. See you next November.

you do realize he didn't start the thread, right? obviously some hawkeye fans give a **** about the bugeaters

While I dont mind 74, I agree 100%.

The Big Ten determined that Pelini’s postgame comments regarding officials were in violation of Big Ten Conference Agreement 10.01, which states in part that “The Big Ten Conference expects all contests involving a member institution to be conducted without compromise to any fundamental element of sportsmanship. Such fundamental elements include integrity of competition, civility toward all, and respect, particularly toward opponents and officials.â€￾

I agree with and am glad that Bo was fined, but does anybody else see the hypocricy (sp?) with this, yet letting O$U's fine upstanding young citizen who threw a punch AND double handed the bird to the crowd get away with nothing more than the disqualification from the game?

^^^^
Well they are kids, not teachers or coaches.
So there is no conspiracy theory here. It is up to the ad's and coaches when a player messes the bed. Now when a leader of men acts like a monkey slinging crude, well the powers that be need to step in.
Bo needs a guru. Dude has blamed the media, the refs, ect. Come on man. REALLY??

Only $10k? Can you imagine what Mark Cuban would say knowing that he would only get fined $10k for saying the officials made a chicken **** call, then continuing to berate them?

The difference between NCAA ball and the pros. Too, in the NBA I think the fine would be individual to the coach, not institutional as this was.

Out of curiosity, are we cherry picking the dates or going back to the beginning of the BCS?

10 years good enough? It works for the census. Nebraska isn't elite...The sooner you realize that the better. Even Hawaii has been to the BCS within the last 10 years.

Considering the coach's behavior and post- game comments occurred during and then after a game with Iowa, that the penalty he was most upset about favored Iowa and then he lamely attempted to excuse his behavior by claiming the Iowa coach was worse, yeah, I think Iowa fans rightfully have more than a passing interest in this story.

Unless Pelini was put on a double secret probation by the league, I honestly feel he got off pretty lightly. There was no money out of his pocket. No one's going to remember, or care, in a few months that he received a public reprimand.

As long as nobody cares Pelini will keep his job. That is good for Iowa

Hmmmmm.

Frank Solich - 6 years 58-19 record. Class guy. FIRED for not winning enough.

Bo Pelini - 6 years 57-24 record. No where near a Class guy. ??????

Explain that to me. If it isn't about the buyout what is it??

it is about the buy out...and they do not have a candidate to take over

Bo is an insane maniac but you win 9 games for 5 years straight you obviously know what you are doing.

I agree other than being an idiot Bo knows how to coach but I don't know if that will be enough to keep him on if he has any more outburst like he did friday

I think you misunderstood. The chicken**** call was the pass interference on a non catchable ball.

If that's what you mean then you are absolutely blinded by your bias. He routinely acts like a Neanderthal on the sidelines. He probably deserved the call for swinging his hat so close to the ref.

Not obsessed at all, just discussing a game that just took place a few days ago, you know, the last game both teams will play until the bowls. That, and it gives me something to do while at work (notice when I make almost all of my posts).

We are hawkeyes fans we don't give a **** about the bugeaters when we aren't playing them.

LOL, you must not pay much attention or are dilusional.

See you next November.

Agreed.

10 years good enough? It works for the census.

I just find it interesting that you go back only long enough to make your point. If you go back just a few more years to the beginning of the BCS it would clearly show that both NU and Iowa have been to 2 BCS games, both going 1-1.

Or maybe I should cherry pick the last 4 years where NU has played in 2 CCGs, where as Iowa has played in none.

Nebraska isn't elite...The sooner you realize that the better. Even Hawaii has been to the BCS within the last 10 years

Again, I beg of you, please show me a time where I said that we were. Please.

Out of curiosity, what is your (or anyone else's) definition of elite?

I just love the conjecture and the ill-informed posts that I read.

74 you cant grab all the way and then tackle the guy. Peyton is very good at throwing to situations like that, because they do and should draw a flag.
What is chicken **** is there wasnt even a review of kellogs arm going forward. Btn in 60 sucks so i cant tell for sure, but twice it looks like you guys got away with it.

If the call was holding or hitting a defenseless player, then I could entertain that argument. But it wasn't.

That should not have been a pass interference, plain and simple. The ball was uncatchable, which negates a pass interference penalty, even the TV commentators said so.

As for Kellogg, one of those hits was called a fumble (probably righfully so), the other an INC pass. From my recollection, it was incomplete but I'd have to go back and watch it again.

Agreed. We're talking about Nebraska though. They haven't reached 9 wins yet this year, and everyone knows they are extremely lucky to even be at 8. For a guy who is supposed to be a defensive minded coach at a school with a strong history of a stout defense their defenses under Pelini have been pretty awful. Certainly these last couple years. I was in Lincoln for the game this past Friday, and I honestly don't even know why they still call themselves the Blackshirts. I saw signs everywhere with the Blackshirt logo. I realize it's a major marketing tool for them, but the product they've put on the field doesn't remotely show respect to what the true Blackshirt defenses were like.

Not to sidetrack the conversation but it reminds me of Brian Ferentz and his "Bullies of the Big Ten" crap in 2011 and 2012. Not remotely accurate (at the time) and it opens the team up to heavier criticism.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Nebby is in a tough spot. They have a coach who essentially dared them to fire him in his post game presser. But the same coach has been eeking out 9 wins. Can they have that success right off the bat with someone else? I'm not sure.

Hawk fans have been quick to cite injuries in some of our less-than-stellar years, or years where we didn't meet certain expectations. KF Haters will say, "Injuries come with the territory", and that should also be noted in Nebraska's case this season. You simply can't give a valid argument that a healthy Taylor Martinez (as an example) wouldn't have made a huge difference for them. As a consequence, the frustration (obviously!) built for Pelini as the injuries mounted. I would also imagine his brother's situation didn't help matters in the "peace of mind" department.

In college, I don't believe you can review the call that was made on the Kellog fumble/incompletion, where the referee immediately signaled incomplete as he ruled Kellog's arm was moving forward. In the NFL, that can be reviewed and if the defense recovered the fumble it can be overturned. Looking at the replay, I'm not sure there would have been enough to overturn it.

The PI is certainly in the eye of the beholder. Pass looked to me to be way too high for CJ Fed to catch, but close enough where I can see how a ref who is 10-15 yards in front of or behind the play (where the two guys were who threw flags) would decide to throw a flag. If the DB doesn't just panic and tackle a guy early before the ball gets there it doesn't matter.
