B1G/ACC Challenge matchups will be announced this afternoon.

Is it just me or does it seem that Duke always gets to play this matchup at home or on a neutral site? Didn't they play tOSU at Cameron last year?

I believe a team can't play more than 2 home games in a row. That's why its not exactly 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 etc. Every year.

But most of Duke's games away from Cameron Indoor in the B1G/ACC Challenge have been neutral site games.

Its bullcrap.

Duke's ACC/Big Ten Challenge history:
2013: vs. Michigan
2012: vs. OSU
2011: at OSU
2010: vs. MSU
2009: at Wisconsin
2008: at Purdue
2007: vs. Wisconsin
2006: vs. Indiana
2005: at Indiana
2004: vs. MSU
2003: at MSU
2002: vs. OSU (Greensboro, NC)
2001: vs. Iowa (Chicago)
2000: vs. Illinois (Greensboro, NC)
1999: vs. Illinois (Chicago)

Total: 6 True Home Games, 5 True Road Games, 2 Neutral "Home" Games, 2 Neutral "Road" Games

Seems pretty balanced to me.

How can you consider neutral site games either home or away?

Most players on either team had little to no experience playing in the specific arena that the B1G/ACC matchup was held in. It gave the "home teams" little to no home court advantage.

Its bullcrap.

That's why I put the words "home" and "away" in quotations. Yes, they aren't home or away games, but they are clearly designed to give the Big Ten or ACC team a geographic advantage while being a neutral game. Take those four games as equally neutral, and here are the results for Duke's ACC/Big Ten history: 6 home games, 5 road games, 4 neutral site games. They have had a very balanced history in the Challenge.

Probably not as balanced when you consider how many neutral site games other teams have had.

Also, I would like to know how many teams from the B1G or ACC have played in only 5 true road games in the challenge.

C'mon this is like making a non-positive remark about Iowa football back in 2010. Its not allowed and it makes you a horrible fan!

Iowa BB is on the way up and since they made the NIT and only lose one rotation player. Next year, nobody will get hurt, zero grade issues, nobody will quit or get in trouble, and everyone will get better because that always happens. Look at all of the players on the current roster. Everyone of them has made leaps and bounds every season.

Insult the football team all you want now, but Iowa BB is back! Nevermind what happened when they played athletic teams like WSU, OSU, Michigan, and Baylor.

Negative comments which are applicable and make sense occur frequently on here. They lead to some healthy and/or unhealthy debates. Comments with no basis by someone that admittedly doesn't watch/follow Iowa basketball are going to draw criticism.

Again I will point out that we lost 2 home games last year to Indiana and MSU. Both were close. The MSU game in particular could have gone either way. Basabe was injured early in the Indiana game and sat. Marble sat the entire game against MSU. This team is deep enough to absorb a couple bumps in the road and still get it done. ND isn't as good as Indiana or MSU and Iowa is a year older and that much better.

What does that have to do with anything? Your original post on this subject was that it was bullcrap that Duke plays most of their challenge games away from Cameron at neutral sites. Jumper proved to you that you're wrong.

Actually my gripe is with the lack of true road games the Dukies have had to play in the challenge.

I put together this spreadsheet to demonstrate the number and percentage of games each team has played at home, away, and at neutral sites during the history of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Red highlights indicate teams that have played an inordinately low number of games in a particular setting. Green highlights indicate teams that have played an inordinately low number of games in a particular setting. You can see from the data that Duke has played the lowest percentage of road games AND the lowest percentage of home games. Illinois and Maryland, other teams that approach Duke in terms of percentage of neutral games, also have inordinately low amounts of road games. Georgia Tech is the only team that approaches Duke in terms of low percentage of home games, and NC State, and Virginia join GT in terms of having played a higher than normal percentage of road games. Boston College and Wake Forest have played a higher than normal number home games.
