B10 made a mistake not going after Pitt or Mizzou

Pitt V Penn State and Pitt V Ohio State would both be major TV draws. Pitt v ND would be a national game.
Would Pitt v Penn State be a better TV draw than Alabama v Penn State?
Would Pitt v Ohio State be a better TV draw than Miami v Ohio State?

If the conference expanded to 14 teams, I would assume each team would have 1 less out of conference game. And if you add a tough Big10 game, I think it would be less likely for teams to schedule tough OOC games.

I think you are mistaken if you believe Pitt's tv draw and in-stadium draw are totally uncorrelated.

Ohhh for ****s sake. It has nothing to do with Pitt's TV draw. It has to do with the 12 million TV's in Pennsylvania that would get an extra B10 TV game a week. It has to do with the 8+ million people in NJ that would get an extra Big10 game on their sets a few times a year. Its the extra 20 million NY peeps that would get an couple of extra B10 games on a year.

The reality is that Pitt would be much more valuable to the B10 than Iowa. It has nothing to do with now many fans the school has, or how many of those fans attend games or watch the team on TV. It's all about how many TV sets the B10 can get on, and Pitt helps them increase their presence in the most populated region in the US>

It's not about draw. It's about how many TV sets it's on and how that impacts the B10. Pitt V Penn State and Pitt v OSU would be infinitely better for the B10 than any of those two matchups. Additional B10 conference games would be infinitely better for the B10 than B10 team versus other BCS conference team for no other reason then the B10 gets to keep all the money.

Penn State v Alabama the TV money gets split between two conferences. B10 v B10 all the money stays here.

Pitt/PSU a major draw.... in PA. Pitt v ND, only because of ND.

Pitt doesn't capture a national audience period. He can't even capture the city of Pittsburgh (doesn't sell out consistently).

I'm done you just don't get it.

You are missing the point. It's not about how many fans Pitt draws. It's about how many TV sets the game would be on.

WRONG again. It isn't about how many homes it reaches but actually home many watch the game. People don't care about Pitt...period.

How many fans Pitt draws is a reflection of how interesting they are.

Ha, based on the comments made it looks like you are the one that doesn't get it.

You act like you know about revenue generation compared to Jim Delany. Yesterday it was about making ND come, now it is about tv revenue? You have no facts to support your poorly thought out opinon.

PITT adds no additional revenue to the current member schools of the B10. Nothing you say will prove otherwise.

Here is that NYTimes article estimating the number of fans each team has. While its far from perfect, its still a decent guide. Pitt is 37th in the country. Iowa is 15th.

How are "millions" of NJ and NYC TVs going to tune into Pitt games if they don't have fans? I think you are projecting PSU's northeast popularity onto Pitt. PSU is the 3rd largest NYC draw, Pitt isn't in the top 10.

Penn State has more fans in Pittsburgh than Pitt-----Kirk Ferentz.
