Atwood to Iowa? For Real?

Trey is going to try to make the trip also. Nothing better than a commit recruiting harder than the coaches.

Why are so many posters so concerned who starts? It has nothing to do with who gets the most minutes.

That's not entirely true, most starters get more minutes than reserves. There are exceptions, Basabe after his injury, and Woodbury, but generally speaking, the best players start and get the most minutes.

Three starters led the team in minutes. At center Woody was the starter and led the centers in MPG. At forward the reason Basabe's minutes were down was when he had a few games where he was ill or coming off an illness. So, generally starters will lead you in minutes per game, even with the way Iowa subs.

The first official visit with JC basketball players is often their first and last stop regardless of what they may have scheduled for additional program visits at the time..........according to Brad Winton, head of the JC recruiting website.

Certainly held true with Dickerson.

absolutely. I read somewhere that about 90% of juco kids commit on their first official visit... fingers crossed

It has to do with who produces! Iowa's problem was that Fran never knew who was going to produce from game to game. In the first two-thirds of the conference schedule he was able to find players that produced. However, there were consistency issues as evidenced by the loses. In the last eight games no matter what Fran tried the players did not produce. Look at Gessell going oh-fer in the last two games.

Unless several players take a huge leap, this team is no better than sixth or seventh in the Big Ten next year. Look at Nik Staukas at Michigan. He was better than average last year. However, he gained sixteen pounds & improved his vertical jump by six inches. Sort of like that slow, undersized safety Iowa recruited over ten years ago.

Atwood isn' really a power forward.. his game is nothing like Reggie Evans. There are some videos you can watch out there on him.

He is a shooter, midrange slasher, didn't see one clip of him posting up.. mostly taking guys of the dribble for mid range jumpers or drilling 3's.

Aaron White's size only he can shoot.

He might be a little shorter than White, but he is pretty well muscled. If you watch some of his complete games on youtube (you must be very bored) you see him work with his back to the basket.

So he's be kind of an aggressive rebounding three. He'd be a real nice piece for the next couple of years.
