Are we the third best team in Iowa?

The beauty of a message board is you can share your opinions and they don't have to be the same as everyone else. I regret saying Moss was a miss, I didn't know why he would redshirt when there was minutes for him and I said that after he played a combined 4 minutes against Seton Hall and Memphis. Bohannon was a fallback recruit, we all know that, I wasn't excited about it like a lot of people. The difference is some people talked themselves into thinking he's the player we need while I didn't. We can have civil conversations without attacking each other

Lol, says the guy who says it is his mission to take on anyone with a differing opinion on Jordan.

You are the one who created this, by taking on everyone who had the audacity to say they think Jordan is playing well or might be good.

Saying someone is playing good and is playing better than he actually is and me disagreeing with it is now a crime

I've had posters agree with me that they think he will hit the freshman wall like most of them do

"Posters agree with me..." "A lot of people say...". "Believe me..." "I'd put her in prison..." "I'm gonna drain the swamp..." "I'll repeal Obamacare day 1..." "Gonna build a wall..."

Yeah...none of those are gonna happen...

Oh sorry I missed that. The reason I ranked them like that is because I have people pretending like Bohannon is a stud (direct quote) and is one of the best players on the team. He's a role player because asking to play a bigger role than he should out of necessity in my opinion.

I don't thing you understand BB at all. Calling the starting PG who is playing between 25-30 MPG is NOT a role player.

I think he should be a role player but is asked to play more minutes than he should because of our PG situation. What other Big Ten team does he average 25-30 MPG on?

The main premise of this thread has been you arguing that JBo has been below average. JBo could be the 7th best player on our team and still be pretty good.

Also I'll destroy your "Ellingson has been better than Bohannon" argument again. By that same logic you could say that Uhl was better than MG last year. Tons of stats would have backed it up (3pt %, true shooting, eFG) especially earlier in the year. Clearly Uhl was not better than MG, that just shows you that you can spin stats any way you'd like.

Ellingson's role is to be a 3 pt shooter and he's shooting 59% from 3. I really don't have to spin stats and way to say he's been really solid this year

Bingo, that's the key. He has been really solid this year. I've mentioned that a couple times in recent threads. That doesn't mean however Bohannon hasn't been better.

I don't think Bohannon has been better but that is just my opinion. I think he's going to struggle more in the Big Ten when he faces tougher competition and better coaches that will pressure him more

1. We were ranking players on their performance thus far.

2. If you want to make that arguement than I'll make this one. I bet you anything that Ellingson's shooting % and production also drops in the Big10.

Oh I agree his percentage will go down. I don't think we're that far off from agreeing on each other with most things. I think Dean and I would agree more too if he wasn't so argumentative because I can tell he understands the game of basketball

How is that any different than Marble? He had to play bigger role earlier than ideally he should have his Fr year. He wouldn't have played much if any on other B1G teams early either. He had a 10 PER his Fr year.

What does that have to do with anything at all anyway?? Jordan isn't a role player at Iowa he is he starting PG

Okay I'll end with this. What do you think Jordan needs to do to be considered a good or average player.

Say he does something like this in Big10 play:
8ppg/4assists/2 TOs/ 40% FG/ 35% 3pt
Iowa wins 10+s games

Is that good enough to be consider at least average?

Marble showed a lot of promise as a freshman with his athletic ability and size plus he improved more over his career than about anyone I can remember

Yeah offensively with those numbers I would say he was average

This whole thing started with 5656 and lightning saying there is no way we can be anything but terrible this year because of our point guard situation. That's how comparing Mike originally happened. He was pretty average last year so his production wasn't that hard to replace.

Well 13 games in, we are looking far from terrible, and we seem to be getting better and better without our 2nd best player. When you have one of the best scorers in the nation, all you need is an average team around him to be pretty good. Right now I would say that's what we have.

Hopefully pretty good is enough to win 12 more games this year to make up for the terrible start. I would put the odds of that happening at 25%.
