Are we still hot after anyone in recruiting?

I know it's late in the game, but does anyone know of any surprise or last minute recruits that we could still possibly sign? An uncommitted that is excited about our run? Thanks in advance.

I think so but don't know particulars. Chuck Long was being interviewed on 600 this morning on my drive in and he commented how much it should be an advantage for recruiting this week because of the #5 ranking. He said it will be mentioned a lot on paper & on calls, paraphrase.

Iowa already has twenty-four commitments for next year. The Hawks have very few, if any, available scholarships.

I'm sure BF would really like to land Matt Farniok, the big 4 star OT out of South Dakota. We are on his top 4.

Farniok I was a little aware of based off of probably an article posted here.....sounds like he'd be a good Hawkeye with some pedigree (brothers).....I was just hoping some kid in Texas or Florida or California would be like.....#5 in the country...no 5 star recruits....I'm gonna Willie Guy it and go to Iowa and dominate as a freshman (yes I realize that Willie didn't do either lol its the thought that counts) and win a Natty Title next year with CJB as my Q and the old fox Coach F.

Hawkeye report stateds 42 recruits will be hosted this Saturday for the Iowa vs Minnesota game. Obviously many of them probably already signed and just letting them get a feel for a night game. A good game to have them come in.

Iowa could still go after some kids with some grey shirt offers. Those are more for border-line kids but I think thats how Iowa got Vandeberg with a grey shirt offer.

I think based on our current success now would be the perfect time to go out after the skill positions. We're always going to be able to bring in quality linemen. Let's take advantage of where we currently stand and focus on locking up some younger game breakers.

How many of those 42 are high school juniors? Like a previous poster said, I think most of our class right now is set. I'm just thinking that based on numbers though. I don't know the more fine details about how many guys you can and can't sign in a class. This season is likely to pay off in next years recruiting by at least creating a sense of awareness that the Hawkeyes can compete for hardware. Hopefully the program can take advantage of this peak which is something they haven't always been able to do.

Agree, any bigger bump will be felt next year. May help get a couple of guys yet this year, but this year's class is mostly completed.

11 of the 42 are verbal commits to this class. The remaining 31 are mostly '17 and some '18 kids. I think we only have a few DT that are still '16 kids coming in.

I think we are shooting for an OL (Farnoik and Alric Jackson) I think the staff is covering it's bases if a current DL commit bolts for elsewhere....they have the backup plans in town this weekend.

ALARIC JACKSON, OL, 6-7, 285, DETROIT (RENAISSANCE), MICHIGAN

“I’m going to visit Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin. I haven’t set up them officially.â€

“They (Nebr.) recruited me pretty hard. Coach (Mike) Cavanaugh seems like a pretty nice guy. He said I’m very mobile. I’m an athlete. I hear from the almost daily. Like twice a week.†Jackson said

“Iowa is pretty good to me,†said the two sport athlete. I had a friend that committed to them last week. They have a lot of tradition sending offensive linemen to the NFL. I like them a lot.â€

“Wisconsin, they are a pretty good team. Smash mouth football. They like to run the ball a lot. They like my ability.†Jackson said
