Are we back now?

Omg we are so back, like we have been back since before we were even back. Jk love you guys!Go hawks. (We're back)

I dont think so. But it was a great win, and hopefully there will be more. This team will still finish under .500 in league play, so I don't think the 'We're Back' stuff can start until you win more league games than you lose
Ok debbie downer....

We will still have our games where we look terrible because of the freshmen. Iowa is a very young team and not very deep at some positions. Although the freshmen have their games where they look very good, as conference play continues, the freshmen will have just as many games where they don't look very good. That is the case with all freshmen. Conference play, studies, travel can be extremely tough on new players.

The good part is that many of these guys will be one year older when the next class comes in and Basabe, White, Oglesby, Marble, McCabe, and May will be able to help mold the younger players and Iowa will not be so dependent on the younger players like we are this year.

Its the case with allot of freshman, but not all. And Im not just talking the one and done types.

Its certainly not as cut and dry as a 50/50 split of when they will look good vs. bad. Plenty of freshman have been capable of maintaining a fairly consistent performance over a season.

Basabe was fairly consistent last year when he was on the floor. He did ride the pine allot because of fouls though which caused his scoring to be up and down.

Allot of it depends on their role on the team. If they are the third or fourth option than they are not going to have big scoring games every night but that doesn't mean they are playing bad.

I think White is a guy who is going to have allot more good games than bad the rest of the way.

if you want to do little "what if"
with a healthy Cartwright and Basabe, would Iowa have lost to ISU, UNI, Clemson or Campbell
i am not sure but it would have been a different scoring affair
with a healthy Cartwright and Basabe i feel we are now looking at the team most expected at the beginning of Fall camp

most were looking at who would replace Coles stats
Cole White
8 ppg 9ppg
6.8 rpg 4.6 rpg
.5 apg .6 apg
.3 bpg .4 bpg
.8 spg .9 spg
to date White as a reserve has more than matched Coles #'s as a starter
the only deficit is in rpg
going forward i expect White to improve his #'s and the team victory #'s will increase

Why do people keep saying that Clemson is a good team?

This. Clemson game was a fluke more than anything though. They had one guy just completely go off from 3p land out of nowhere and put us in a huge hole. When we were playing Purdue it was pretty clear that Iowa was the better team, they don't have JaJuan Johnson to go to anymore.

If one win against top 25 team means we're back then Alford was back and so was Lick twice. It's a great win, but just one win. We have to do this consistently....then we're back.
