Would be nice to see at least 30,000 there. If you have a neighbor kid living by you that's never seen the inside of Kinnick ask him or her to go.

Planning on taking a little road trip with my 2 and a half year old weather permitting. Wife is having garage sale that weekend so might be a little work left to do on that front but planning on going.
Little stinker has already been inside the place 3 times. Two of the about 15 or 20 words he knows are Iowa and Hawkeyes. I know I wasn't there that much by 2 and a half. One game (UNI), last year's spring game and family day last August.

I'll be heading up there from KC with my wife and 13 month old boy. We are meeting my parents and grandparents there. I need to show my little boy what REAL football is all about. This KU, K-State and Mizzou crap down here is nothing compared to what Ferentz and company have going on in Iowa City.

30,000?

Last years was estimated around 10,000...

The University (in my opinion) does a terrible job of marketing this. Never hear about it until about two days before the actual scrimmage.

It's all going to depend on the weather. If it's nice then hell yes we'll be there. If it's cold and rainy like it was two years ago, probably not. I hope it's nice because as far as I am concerned spring game is also a good warm up for fall tailgating!

I was thinking about going...but then I heard that no alcohol will be permitted on university property or surrounding person properties. SO, who wants to stand around staring at each other for a couple hours and then see only an hour or two or practice? Maybe I heard that wrong?

I will be there. Looking forward to hanging out with some Hawkeye friends with good conversation and fellowship and taking in the practice.

You can't have booze on University or public property. But if you've got friends nearby, or if anyone is opening their yard up for tailgating, that's fair game. It's just University and public ground that's on the wagon.

What age kids are you guys taking? I have a 2 year old (will be 3 in 2 months) and was wondering if she would enjoy it?

What is the point of going? It's boring. Most of it is the team standing around while some players go through drills. Nothing interesting happens. After the initial thrill of getting in the stadium wears off, there is nothing to the experience.

If you are thinking about brining a kid under 20, you better have one hell of a patient kid, or a Nintendo DS with a charged battery, because this "practice" will hold a child's attention for about 2 minutes.

I disagree. I went to the 2003 and 2004 spring games (age 13 and 14), and was totally captivated. If the kid really loves the Hawks (and I'm not suggesting there are kids who don't truly love the Hawks, they just may not be old enough yet to really appreciate it yet), then they'll be mesmerized just by seeing Clayborn, Sash, Stanzi, DJK, etc. walking around. That's how it was for me anyway. Especially if the kids don't get to go to very many games (before I came here for school, I had been to 4 Iowa games since '97), then they really soak up the experience, because it's something they don't get to experience very often, if at all.

My son is two and will be three in Sept. We took him last year and went to family day last August too. He really enjoys all things Hawks. Doesn't understand what's going on during practice or anything. But if the weather is nice I'd say its a must. They usually have concessions open too, so you can get her popcorn and pop and my son liked playing on the open bleachers since you have room around you unlike during a game. We took him last year to gauge his interest before we took him to the UNI game for his birthday. He really liked both and behaved very well at both. It helps to keep pumping him with snacks though too.
