APRIL 17th Who's Going

It's all going to depend on the weather. If it's nice then hell yes we'll be there. If it's cold and rainy like it was two years ago, probably not. I hope it's nice because as far as I am concerned spring game is also a good warm up for fall tailgating!
What is the definition of a fair weather fan? hmmm.....

Just kidding. Judging by this guy's posts he is far from it.

I was thinking about going...but then I heard that no alcohol will be permitted on university property or surrounding person properties. SO, who wants to stand around staring at each other for a couple hours and then see only an hour or two or practice? Maybe I heard that wrong?
The last few years I have been in the lot just west of Kinnick tailgaiting and simply have had to be discreet about the booze. The cops caught me once and literally just asked me politely to stop. It's not like they were tossing people in jail for it, just asking us to pour out the open ones and put away the unopened.
I'm bringing my 2 year old and 3 week old. I brought Hayden (2 now) when he was 4 months old and it was fine.

30,000?

Last years was estimated around 10,000...

The University (in my opinion) does a terrible job of marketing this. Never hear about it until about two days before the actual scrimmage.
My coworker from Nebby said they sell out (~80,000) their spring game. I also thought we only had around 10,000 last year. I agree that our open practice could/should be marketed much better. The numbers speak for themselves. I think its important for building the next generation of fans.

Yeah, far from it. I like spring games but in essence you are just watching guys work out for an hour and then watching a small scrimmage. Worth it if the weather is nice, not so much otherwise. It's an arguement you will never hear from me during the regular season. And like I said, hopefully I go because like the players, I need some tailgate training!

Does anyone remember Edds flattening Albert Young on the blitz a few years back? At that moment, I knew Edds would be special. That hit was worth the trip.

We will be at 821 Melrose Ave as usual with lots of things for the kids and to have autographed.
We have new #12, 7, 94, and blank jerseys for the kids for their favorite players. They now can have whichever number they want.
It is always a great time.
See you there.

What do they call the practice/game? Is it the spring game? Black and gold game? And what time does it start?

It's great how I search on google " 2010 Iowa spring football game" and the cyclone sports website comes up first. What the heck! Does the UI even advertise it?

Great, will the kid's stuff be right next to the tshirts of Herky humping a cheerleader or more commentary on getting wasted? Wouldn't miss that for the world.
