Anybody feel like it's Officially Over for Iowa football?

What is over? Contending for Conference and National Titles?

Dissapointed in the results this year. But I don't think anything is over that hasn't been over since 2004, and before that 1985.

Losing sucks, always will.

Next week....let's win, and go from there.

Good point HW....let's get Nebbie and enjoy our Thanksgiving leftovers.......:)....I will be out In Denver, CO.....where I was last year when we kicked their a$$es.....I'm thinkin repeat.....

No, that was a great college football game

No, it was one dreadful half of football followed by one half of football that should be the norm, not the exception. I can't believe how many folks are getting excited over one half of football against a defense that has 7 new starters up front. These moral victories are horse crap. I miss the days that fans were upset with losing and not looking for the silver lining. We lost today against a very decent football team. That team pays their coach much less than we do, has the same (if not colder) winters that we have, recruits from the same places we recruit from, and has facilities that are good but not as good as ours. Why are we constantly looking for moral victories at the same time they go to the Rose Bowl every other year? I wonder if their fans say, "poor old wisconsin, can't recruit here...cold weather...blah blah blah." We have a systemic problem at Iowa and it won't go away until Barta and KF are long gone.

How can it be over when the recruits at the game today will all jump on board and rescue us . .

When is the last time in either sport where we needed a mess up by the other team to get a win and actually got it? Everyone in the world is clutch when they play us. Field goal kickers, sh!tty backup quarterbacks, some no name guy off the end of the bench that has made a handful of 3's in his life. It doesn't matter who it is, when the game is on the line they're clutch.

Even with the new starters, that is the best defense we played all year despite the a@@ kicking at Minnie. I am not happy with the state of Iowa fb either. But like it or not KF is here for at least another couple of years. Where I think we will need to cut bait will be 2018. Unless things change I don't see a coaching change unitl then unless some other school desperate for a 'name' coach hires KF.

Well said. Agree.

Last time I saw moral victories on here was last year against OSU and '09 OSU. How do you miss the days of no moral victories when they almost never happen?

I almost don't blame moral victories at this point. We have played about 6 quarters of exciting football all year. We haven't had a touchdown run over 40 yards in 4 years. We complete an average of about 3 passes longer than 10 yards every game. This program has been driven to the point where all we can hope for is moral victories against good teams.

I was actually surprised they kept it close, expected it to get ugly in the 2nd half. Game was there for the taking, came up short as usual. The thing that chaps my behind, as it does so many years, is the inexcusable loss (again) to Iowa State. Beat those bums and we're 8-3 right now with a very good shot at 9-3. Really no excuse for Kirk losing to them so often. This is an average Iowa team which is reflected in their inconsistency.

Yes, it's been over for a while.

Easiest schedule we can remember in a while, lots of returning players, year 16 for KF and he can't even come close.

Now look at WI. They lose their entire front 7, not supposed to be a great year (despite a similar schedule) and they are one win away from championship game....AGAIN.

They are the program to be.

We've played 11 games where we have a 50% chance to win and our opponent has a 50% chance to win. We've won 7 and lost 4 so I would say we are over achieving.

Hashtag Kirk logic.

No because with Iowa there is always big turnarounds.
1895 2-5, 1896 7-1-1 conference champions
1898 3-4-2, 1899 and 1900 undefeated conference champions
1917 3-5, 1921 and 1922 undefeated, national champion vote winners
1938 1-6-1, 1939 7-1-1
1955 3-5-1, 1956 9-1 Rose Bowl Champions
1980 4-7, 1981 Rose Bowl
1989 5-6, 1990 Rose Bowl
1994 5-5-1, 1995 8-4
2000 3-9, 2002 11-2 conference champions
2007 6-6, 2009 11-2 Orange Bowl Champs
The next one is now!

Not at all, we have been here before. Who knows, next year this team could win 10 games just as easily as it could lose ten. That is one thing I love about Iowa football, you really never know what is going to happen.

I don't have much to say. What do you expect with an average coaching staff, average recruiting, and an average program. Hell, even the marching band is average. I loved the effort out of the players, but it's the G. Davis who lost the game for us. He won't leave until KF is gone, so I'm going to expect outcomes like this. Average.
