When did Hock say he is making his decision?
If true, he's making a mistake.Meanwhile, Auburn's Derrick Brown, one of the top DT prospects in the nation and a fixture in 1st round mocks, is returning for his SR year.
I just don't see any scenario in which he would move up to a first rounder. Didn't he play on the left edge most of the time? I think unless you are a total freak like JJ Watt, you ain't going in the first round as a guy playing on the left. You're drawing the bad tackle and the NFL will discount your stats. If he had come back and had a monster year, he could have stepped into that 1st round discussion.
Auburn competes with NFL salaries for All-American caliber players. They want to beat Alabama sooooooo bad. Combine Iowa State's and Michigan State's little brother syndrome and then run it to the 10th power and that is how bad Auburn's little brother syndrome is against Bama.If true, he's making a mistake.
With a big year, he absolutely could have sniffed the first round. There is a premium on edge players at the next level. If he would have returned and ended up with 10-12 sacks and 15 TFL, you can bet he would have been considered one of the top 32 players.I just don't see any scenario in which he would move up to a first rounder. I'm confused as hell...all this nfl talent and we still had 4 loses to subpar teams! Yes whisky and ped state were down so yes subpar! All of these players graduating to the NFL better help with the recruiting. If Iowa is going to become a football program that churns out NFL talent in 3 years then they better get a grip on more of the 4* and 5* talent.
Starting to realize how good this team really was. Is this a record for underclassmen declaring for the NFL draft?
You referring to Matt Nelson?Nelson will go to medical school sooner or later.
I don't believe Anthony would have ever been 1st round talent, but you are correct about the premium on edge rushers. With a big year, he absolutely could have sniffed the first round. It will be interesting to see where he goes, but I would bet both he and Hooker are looking at the 4th or 5th rounds right now, pending their combine performances.
Deadline is the 14th. We won’t have to wait long and I guarantee you the coaches already know. When did Hock say he is making his decision?
Another thing to keep in mind here is that A Nelson already has two degrees from Iowa.
Matt is the future surgeon.Nelson will go to medical school sooner or later.
Pat Angerer is a good example. Although his body’s a little busted up.This is a big deal. He doesn't have to make top dollar in the NFL to come out in pretty good shape. If he plays his cards right he can have a respectable career in the NFL, get out before his body is wrecked, invest his money wisely, and have a perfectly good second career.
This IS considered a down year for qb's, but that won't stop some teams drafting for that need. The experts say there will be a better crop of qb's next year which won't help Stanley of course. Possible new TE's to throw to and the loss of Easley won't help him either.Well from what I gather this isn't a strong year for QB's in the draft. It has been said that someone like Stanley may receive a better than average opportunity this year to impress a team.
So I have looked at a lot of mock drafts and the highest I have seen Brown is mid second. Which means there are probably like 50 or more mocks or he is in Kiper's or some other ESPN dude's mock cuz I'm not paying to read their shit.Meanwhile, Auburn's Derrick Brown, one of the top DT prospects in the nation and a fixture in 1st round mocks, is returning for his SR year.
