If it doesn't effect his coaching does it matter?

Yes...even if we were to consider for a second that it doesn't affect his coaching (which alcoholism certainly does)...being an alcoholic at the very least increases the odds of him getting an OWI. An OWI by the coach is a major black eye for the program...if he followed it up with another we'd almost certainly have to fire him.

I think Huggins got 2 and then he had to go even though his results on the court wouldn't suggest that he needed to be fired at the time.

Because as I've said before, coaching changes DON'T happen before the tournament is OVER. This isn't football where a meaningless bowl game is at stake. Nearly every team has a legit shot at winning once they make the tournament. No coach is going to give up that opportunity.

Lick may be fired before the tournament, but we aren't going to have a new coach until after teams start losing games in the big dance (unless it's Gillispie).

He's not saying "make a hire" before the tourney is over. He's saying Barta needs to make the decision as to whether we stick with Lickliter or not. THAT does need to happen soon, one way or the other. The drama and uncertainty is not going to help anything, especially recruiting. Players don't know what's going to happen yet (maybe). We need to know one way or the other as soon as possible.
