I'm not trolling Hawk fans. Just being realistic unlike a lot on here who talk about Pearl.

If ISU were to fire Greg (please!) than I think the best we could do is a mid major coach or high level assistant. So it's not like I am ripping Iowa and giving props to the Cyclones.

Read some posts about the potential of Pearl coming to Iowa. There are some VERY good reasons why it would work. Personally, I think it's a long shot, but why settle for someone who's only going to bring mediocracy to your program?

Do you realize the difference in revenue between our two programs? Jon Miller spent some time talking about this earlier in the week. Iowa's athletic program brings in over twice as much revenue as ISU's per Jon's research about this. His numbers were as of the end of 2008's fiscal year if I remember right. Iowa was $81 million, ISU somewhere in the $35 million range, give or take. No offense, and I'm not being pompous when I say this, but ISU's athletic program isn't quite the standard for what Iowa can or can't do.

No, our program is in no better shape than yours. No argument there. But money talks, and Iowa has a little more room to work in that regard than ISU does.

I do realize the difference in revenue. You guys can pay a coach 1.5 million a year. We can not. But what big coach are you going to go after that isn't already getting paid nearly that much? Nobody

Plus Iowa has no talent on the team and little talent coming in. Not a job that a high major coach with success is going to leave his team for.

Iowa can afford to pay more than $1.5 million for a coach.

Scott Drew has turned around Baylor completely, and is only making $400k, from what I've heard. There's one name.

In speaking with someone they felt and after hearing I agree that we have to make a splash of High Risk proportions. Make it something exciting for the fans is #1 priority with the risk being in experience.

BJ Armstrong as HC and having him with assistants that have JUCO (good) head coaching experience to help with actual coaching ties in schools.

It is a MUST.......Jacobson just will not work. Black and exciting, not white and boring. Plus BJ really cares about Iowa and that is why we need him to keep our long term interests in mind too.

Compliments of Travis Forsyth.......I am just the messenger

Anyone who is in charge of hiring for their company...

Could you imagine someone coming to you and telling you that you need to be more concerned with hiring someone who is going to make a big splash than hiring someone who is actually right for the job?

Or hiring somebody who is black because he is "exciting"?

If Barta doesn't have a "homerun" type of candidate, then why even make a move? We either need to stay the course with the current coach or bring in someone who will instantly bring energy to the program. That won't happen with a ho-hum hire.

I don't see anyone talking about Billy Gillespie. I don't believe he is coaching right now, which makes him available. He did great things at A&M before Kentucky decided to sell their sould and hire a cheat for a coach. Not that I blame them, it's working out very well.

The only concern with Gillespie is his fondness for the bottle.. I'm not sure how serious of a problem it is, but BG comes with some baggage, apparently. Otherwise, the guy can coach. He did a heckuva job at A&M.

Because as I've said before, coaching changes DON'T happen before the tournament is OVER. This isn't football where a meaningless bowl game is at stake. Nearly every team has a legit shot at winning once they make the tournament. No coach is going to give up that opportunity.

Lick may be fired before the tournament, but we aren't going to have a new coach until after teams start losing games in the big dance (unless it's Gillispie).

Well it's just not about finding a coach 12345.

1. Iowa Coaches can't effectively recruit during these unstable times.

and

2. Iowa's current players also probably not going to be practicing with the rumors that are going around now. These are valuable practice times allowed by the NCAA. rigth now. Trust me this team needs all the court time they can get with a Coach.

This program is stuck in neutral until a decision is made. We have recruits to recruit and current and upcoming Hawkeyes wondering. Sorry but that not good.

If we hire another mid-major guy Barta needs to be fired. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

I don't understand or agree with these extreme statments/logic.

Lick didn't fail because he was a mid major guy, he failed because he wasn't the right guy. There are plenty of examples of mid major guys being successfu.

Bingo. Bruce Pearl is one. Jay Wright is another.

If it doesn't effect his coaching does it matter?
