A name I haven't seen yet, or I've missed it if it's been mentioned...how does everyone feel about Lon Kruger making a return to the Big10? He probably still has connections to Chicago area and other places.

I agree and would also agree that so much emphasis is on the coach. Overcoaching runs rampant in college basketball.

BTW, here's the link to Andy Katz's twitter account.

"Still waiting on official words at Oregon, fate of Norm Roberts should be after NIT, Rutgers? Iowa? All should be decided here very soon."

Alford will be going after the Oregon job will full force. IF the Duck front office does not hire SA, look for Tubby Smith to be the next coach there. AND, if Tubby goes to Oregon, Jacobsen will be given a STRONG look as the new HC for the Goofs.

But, I just see Alford as the guy there. He has some pretty strong ties with the higher up guys @ Nike.

Wasn't Katz the same one who was saying 3 years ago that our one and only call should have gone to Dana Altman? I'm glad Andy Katz isn't our AD.

Maybe not my first choice, even after Bruce Pearl, but I think I could definitely live with Lon Kruger.

I just do not think SA will leave NM...they have too much good bb support...Oregon is a football school. As the columnist from the Albuquerque paper said..SA could be elected Governor right now.

As for Morril, he just wins. I am not saying he should be considered but he does seem to find ways to win 20+ games every year. He looks like an old school guy with a lot of gray hair....probably not what we need to juice the program right now.

You are crazy. You aren't going to hire anybody than a mid major coach. Come to grips with reality now so you are disappointed later

This is probably true. Everyone keeps acting like Barta needs to get the big time home run candidate. Well the truth is right now, guys like that aren't going to want the Iowa job. Just because Lickliter didn't work out, doesn't mean all mid major coaches won't. Matta, Ryan, Weber, Painter all those guys were mid major coaches who have had a ton of success in the Big 10. it's just a matter of finding the right mid major coach.

Agreed...he wouldn't be my first choice either, but I'm not sure our first choices are going to make a switch, so I'm definitely throwing darts.

If we're looking to irritate the Illini, Lon Kruger could be another hire besides Pearl that would be outstanding in that capacity. :D

The Auburn BB job is open. Could you see Alford taking that job and having him and the Chiss at the same school. Boise St. is also open but that's a football school.

I'm not trolling Hawk fans. Just being realistic unlike a lot on here who talk about Pearl.

If ISU were to fire Greg (please!) than I think the best we could do is a mid major coach or high level assistant. So it's not like I am ripping Iowa and giving props to the Cyclones.

If we are looking at Mid-Major type coaches, why not Sean Wright from Xavier?

Granted the last successor to Thad Matta hasn't worked out too well, but Thad's name keeps coming up as an example of someone who's worked out being hired by from a mid-major...

I have no idea who Sean Wright is. Sean Miller was their coach but he's at Arizona now, Chris Mack is their coach now, and this was his first season there.
