Why would you list McDermott ahead to Barnes, Collison or Hinrich right now?

How many are you putting on this team? If we're doing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and honorable mention...then we can talk Street and Bowen.

The top 5 is in the airspace of guys who were Naismith finalists and NBA lottery picks. Bowen and Street, as much as I love them, don't sniff the list.

Street was developing into a lottery pick-caliber player. Obviously, we'll never know how his future would have panned out, but he was just starting to reach that level.

Although we hardly knew him....Ricky Davis was the best talent to ever come out of Iowa. And he even went to Iowa. No one put up the NBA numbers that he did.

Why would you list McDermott ahead to Barnes, Collison or Hinrich right now?

I thought I took care of that with my asterisk. McDermott was placed in an undecided slot as a bet-hedger that he or one of the other young guns (this includes Barnes) would eventually make the list. Hinrich would fill that last slot if none of these guys emerges as a better player. It's too soon though, but I'm willing to bet that one of these guys - not necessarily McDermott - will turn out to be better than Kirk. Nick's behind Kirk, by the way.

Certainly Shon Morris deserves some recognition? He averaged almost 13 points a game over his career at Nortwestern and I believe was a three time academic all American.
